Is This The End To Rah?

With new sculpt style six pack bats, and new sculpt three packs coming out in october, do you think hasbro will altogether stop the old style rah figures??? Packs originally designed for the vintage-style modern day collector have now been altered. What do you think?

Well, the six packs in toys r us originally came out rah style only, now hasbro's breaking the barrier and making new sculpt six packs. Just discussing the possibility of them not going back, as those aand the three packs are pretty much the Only source of vintage-style figs we get

Oh you mean the Rah re-issues like the TRU exclusives. Well I can't say for sure but I would be surprised if we had seen the last of them.

I gotta go with JayC on this-- as long as RAH-style sets sell, Hasbro will keep producing them. In fact, they just might be the one part of GIJoe that is designed with collectors completely in mind!

Between Hasbro and MasterCollector I doubt you've seen the last of RAH.

I think the concept behind anything American being in the same sentence as "hero" has died a long time ago, and we're seeing the trend, in moving away from it.

I'm too much a patriot and still love my country, and will wave the flag with much arrogant pride, and these shifts in attitudes will undoubtedly not sit well with me, and I'm doing a lot of barking over it.

I'm seeing the whole G.I.Joe thing, going down the tubes completely. It's too much a stretch for people around the world and even here in our own country, to buy into the concept now, so we'll try some different approachs (Sigma Six) and then I think it will totally disappear......the Real American Hero thing, that is! :(

You'll have bare with me, on where my heads at right now. ;)

I know you were talking about the toy design itself (of the 80's Joes) but I went off on another dying concept (design included) of the good ol' RAH era. I compounded the question a little! ^_^

So why did they switch to new sculpt six packs.

they haven't "switched" to new sculpt 6-Pack's they have produced A New Sculpt 6 Pack, and even that was proiabably a resuilt of asking a question like "Well we've got the BAT V5 Mold complete, and some of its accessory arms, how can we best use them in the DTC line?"

As for the New sculpt comic pack well: a new sculpt era comic pack natuaraly has new sculpt figures, just as the RAH era comic packs come with RAH figures

I don't think RAH mold usage is going to end. They know we like seeing them. In another thread, I mentioned a good sixty molds that we KNOW exist (the 97/98 and 00/01 molds) so it isn't like they are suddenly out of them.

And, as everyone knows (except Hasbro?) the only problems with the RAH molds are the bizarre color choices, the crappy mold choices for packs and the inappropriate gear selections.

I don't know why you guys are so pessimistic.

I don't think the Rah line will die since it's clear there is a huge market among collectors. Hasbro could even extend the DTC offer to Europe since the demand is very important here as well. Most collectors stores offer the whole line trough import, only it's twice the price...

As for the flag and Real American Hero thing, i see no reason for it not to remain as it is. The packaging in Europe just said "international Heroes" but the US flags remained on the vehicles, and who cares about the S6 line since i doubt it will ever please collectors? And it's success among kids is yet to be demonstrated.

The pessimism comes from RAH being low man on the pole. Hasbro was concentrating on new sculpts, so RAH stuff generally got less attention as shown by lame paint apps and ##$%$#ed gear selections.

Now that S6 is the flagship, RAH stuff is even lower.

Personally, I don't think people would complain so much if they RAH figures at least had good paint apps and/or appropriate (or, better, "correct" gear).

I wouldn't. My beef with the ARAH style figs we've seen of late is that they're low effort sets that are the result of absolute laziness on the part of Hasbro.

I wouldn't mind only seeing 2 or 3 ARAH 6-packs per year and 4 or 5 comic packs....as long as the figures included with them were all well done. At this point, there have been few ARAH style figure produced after '01 that were really must buys. If they upped the quality to near con fig like quality in terms of design and accessories, I'd gladly go with far fewer releases just to get better overall figures.

I hope and pray there remains an outlet for RAH reissues.I stuck with the Valor vs Venom line through wave 5.At that point the line was beginning to look weak to me.The only packs I picked up after that Was the Snake Eyes and Bombstrike packs from wave 7 but I continued to get any TRU 6 pack. The DTC line looks much better than the stuff they were pushing at retail.A good mix of JvsC style figures with either new molds or frankenjoes that look good.

The RAH reisssues like the Night Ops and Comic packs still impress.Hope they continue this trend.I haven't purchased any of the JvsC DTC stuff but am really close due to how good wave 2 looked. As far as JvsC 6 packs are concerned I love the Bat pack but wished it had 5 new Bats and Overkill.

Reports indicate that Hasbro still has many RAH molds that they haven't used yet so cross your fingers and pray they see the light of day.

While I feel it would have been better to offer the new DTC Joes at retail instead of mail order but it seems to sustain the line so all the better.

I also agree with Viper Hunter in that we should display our proud heritage any time we can.Like VH I'm an American and proud of it. #US1#

You guys are hitting the nail smack dab square on the head here!

To look at what's been undertaken with the new Sigma Six line, whether you like the style or NOT...you can certainly see the major effort that's been put behind it, and that's only just a little more of why I think I've taken such a distasteful position against it.

If all were fair and equal in the world of G.I.Joe and how Hasbro should have (could have) handled the different lines under the same namebrand, most of the issues being tossed about, could have been eliminated.

To stand in a TRU and hold a new Sigma Six figure in one hand, up to the latest offerings of the RAH 6-packs (saaaaay...the HAS set) and it's just a major slap in the face to the RAH line. You feel dirty and USED and extremely taken advantage of.

We're just asking for some of that same (apparent) attention to quality and details, for ALL the Joe figures, that they're putting into this Sigma Six stuff. I think the new scale SS figures even stole the new sculpt little guys (3 3/4") cartoon? :(

I think most of us would like to at the LEAST see original gear associated with particular figures. That was one of the best things about the Anti-Venom set.

Paint apps, on the other hand, aren't quite as big a deal. I liked the fact the Anti-Venom set had a cohesive team look. Others did not. The Winter Ops set, I just see a group of figures in a 6-pack as opposed to a team of arctic troopers. In fact, I intend to use "Backblast" as a Night Force version of Avalanche. Even the HTS set looks nice, so far as paint apps (the major complaint being FIGURE selection).
