Star Wars Episode Vi Question....

Well Anakin didn't technically die or cease to exist,he was just radically changed. Its not as if Anakin was possesed, he was just corrupted. Therefore he should really appear as an older version of himself, not any younger. So the change was made to basically link both trilogies together.

Well......no.

The jedi "spirit" of Anakin died when he became Vader. Thats why his "spirit" appears as a young man at the end of ROTJ and not the older version originally.

I do see the argument for the older version though. If Anakin redeems himself at the end of ROTJ by killing Palpatine, then he might have a good case for appearing old in his "spirit" form.

Are you saying that the good Anakin died when he became Vader or that he appears how he truly looked before become evil? because depending on how you answer there is a problem.

This is how I think of it:

Because of the Force, Anakin had a physical self, and a Force spirit. Ordinarily, the two are inextricably linked and would "age" at the same rate, which is why Obi-Wan's and Yoda's Force spirits appear the same age as their physical forms ... in their cases, their two personas were never separated.

Anakin, however, is a unique case. When he turned to the Dark Side, "he ceased to be Anakin Skywalker, and became Darth Vader. The good man who was [Anakin] was destroyed." From a certain pov, of course.

What that means is that, even though the physical shell remained, Anakin's Force spirit was essentially cut off from it's physical host and stuck in a sort of "limbo" when he went to the Dark Side, effectively destroyed. But, when he returned to the Light aboard the Death Star, his Force Spirit was returned from "limbo" or wherever it had been banished and "reattached" to its physical self. However, the physical shell had aged an additional 20+ years, while the Spirit form was still young since it had been in stasis during that entire time.

I wouldn't go as far as to say Anakin was completely and utterly good

before he became Vader. He did do a number of questionable things prior to becoming a Sith.

This subject has been debated countless times, however everyone already knows the (true) reason why there is a younger Anakin at the end of ROTJ and that was to tie both trilogies.
