I'm definately not saying to buy something you don't like just to further the line. I think thats ridiculous. I remember someone out there suggested in the He Man forum once that anyone who cared about the He man line should go buy some extra He man figures to help clear the shelves and support the line. Thats not my responsibility. Nor an I going to buy anything I dont like. In fact sadly I'm probably gonna NOT buy a few things I DO like, because I cant afford them. I think all anyone is saying, is that we as collectors have made a lot of gripes and complaints over the years, and nothing is perfect, but this DTC line is as close to what all of us have asked for as we can get. So be supportive, and if you like it, dont hesitate to buy it... if you can afford it. And remember, always Shop Joe responsibly.

I remember that - and I agree with you completely. As much as I wanted the He-Man line to succeed, I wasn't about to go broke buying figures that I didn't want. The most I did was pick up a few as donations for Toys for Tots.

And I feel the same way about the DTC Joes - I will do my best to support them but I won't buy figures that I don't want. Of course, so far I've wanted at least one of everything. :) It really does seem like Hasbro is working hard to give us what we want, and I'll buy it all as long as I have the money and space for it.

as much as I like Corey Stinson's store.. I can't agree with him on a lot of it.

DTC is not what "WE ALL" have been asking for. The only thing I really like about it so far is the packaging. I like the comic-packs also, but most of the heads suck.

The vehicles are horrendous and the figures are uninspiring.

But that still doesn't mean I'm going to buy repaints of sculpts I don't like (looking at you, green Spirit) just because.

the green spirit is an all new sculpt, not a repaint. now when the comic version is released, that will be the repaint. the first version to come out is the original version, and when that same mold is rereleased with a new paint scheme, that is a repaint. so you are actually against buying the comic pack Spirit, not this one.

I can see the Green Spirit as the repaint. Technically i know it is the original and the comic pack one will be the repaint but the first we heard of this mold was the DD comic pack so naturally when you think of the first version you think of the first time you saw/heard of it. I know when i get the comic pack version, the Green one will find its way into the extras bin in my closet.

regardless of which you prefer, the darker comic pack release is the repaint. also, it has been said that this comic pack was only selected the winner because Hasbro was already in the process of making Spirit, so actually the green Spirit was the first figure and was then going to be simply repainted to include in the comic pack. whether this is true I don't know, but the fact that this figure was sculpted and released long before the comic pack is even ready shows it is more likely that the green Spirit was always Hasbro's original figure. the darker version is the repaint. for this figure to already be out means that Hasbro had this guy in production long ago, long before the comic pack.

and the first version is always the first version that is released, not when somebody heard about it. what of those who never heard about the DD's pack? the first version has to be an absolute, not subjective and a matter of individuals experiences or knowledge.

Well, it's certainly what "I've" been asking for, as a 30 yr. old purchaser of the originals.

"I like the comic-packs also, but most of the heads suck."

As opposed to what, exactly?

"The vehicles are horrendous and the figures are uninspiring."

Joe fans can vary so much, because I would say the figures are great and the vehicles very inspired.

I already have most of the original figures I want, but, to each their own!

As far as I'm concerned (And I just recieved my case in the mail today) DTC Wave 1 is fantabulous. Sure I wish Mutt had his old porn-stache and reusing the molds to make the Sieges and Medi-vipers make them a bit tall (Or Scrap Iron is just a REALLY short dude), but overall they are nice. I find the new stuff compared to the old school RAH is akin to the debate over the new Star Wars Trilogy and the orignal. Its hard to top the original, because we grew up with it and refuse to believe something can be as good or better (well, maybe better is to harsh). Alot of the original RAH molds had problems in one for or another. Faces were to bleh or to fat or to skinny. Or the colors. Or whatever. But we still loved them.

Now we're older and have a hard time trying to collect something thats not exactly the original. And why is it not? New design team? Different type of sculpt/plastic/paint? Or is it just the 11 year gap from what we considered the original till what we consider the present? But, as always. I'll buy what I want and leave the rest behind. And if its cancelled again, well it was a good run. Some ups and some downs, but no line is perfect. And on the price. Well, some of the amount is figured in with the shipping. But only about a buck fifty more than the store? That saves the headache of hitting 10 Wal-Marts 5 Targets 3 TRS and what remaining KBs are left. And if no one noticed gas ain't cheap. @grumpy@ Here's to the future waves of DTC and hoping I still get a remold of Shockwave, Hit n Run, and Fast Draw. And, while I'm on it. Why the hell can't I get a revamped H.I.S.S. driver instead of another damned Night Creeper mold? Ninjas don't drive tanks. Period. @smilepunch@

Do the math. $6.99 a pack,

(let's be conservative here, Wal-Mart at 30 points) they buy it for $4.09

Now 40 points for Hasbro and that's $2.46

Ok ill be honest, Im not sure I understand your point. But still the point remains. For a 1.40 more a figure than what you paid at target, you are getting original snazzy card art, and character specific accessories, delivered to your door.

Factor that in with the fact that in order to get as many crimson guards as you want you dont have to pay 7.40 a pop and get stuck with 20 gung hos, and I think its well worth the extra dollar and some change.

Phanstar

I think I'd rather cut the price by that $1.40 by forgoing the cards. Sure, they look great and all, but prices are already high enough, especially with the unexpected "handling" cost. And I can't be the only one to think that.

I think the prices are 100% fair. They refunded me on $15 shipping, and how many large companies would actively send an email saying "oh, we overcharged you, here's your money!" None I can think of; they'd just keep it.

At the risk of being repetitive - this is an important time for the

collector, a time to show Hasbro that when offered high quality,

collector-oriented GI JOE 3 3/4" product, that we will put our money

where our mouth is and actually buy it, rather than pick and choose

only certain items, only army build to try to impress friends, and complain

relentlessly on the discussion boards about minutia.

I found this kind of funny...

Medi-Viper $8.99

Crimson Guard $8.99

Gung-Ho vs Viper $18.99

I love the dtc line, i'm the old ball thoguh, i would take cheaper, uniform packaging to cut the cost, packaging doesn't matter to me.

Yeah i want new rivets on everything and not the huge ones but i can accept some, as they don't have many to choose to frankenstein with just yet. (but they better think about that!)

I too am in the boat that would buy more if i had the money, but i will certinatly buy what i like.

It's funny how alot of people change their tune. I seem to remember many online retailers talking smack about everything never once giving Hasbro the benfit of the doubt when they said "hiatus" and not "cancellation.

Corey's spot on...on all counts, and not a one of them, was suggesting "buy crap (if you think it's crap) anyway...just to support the line!"

If your a fan already, NOW IS THE TIME TO BE A FAN, seems to be the message I'm taking from his comments. Don't save your fandom for a rainy day on this, and sit on your money. Of course if you think it's crap, you're not going to buy it, and nobody is asking you to.

I'm not buying Sigma Six garbage, because I think it's "garbage" and will have a crappy anime cartoon to support it, because kids like anime crap these days (and a few weird adults @smilepunch@ ) so my lack of support will be miniscule to it's being a hit or miss.

I'm putting 100% of my support in the DTC product that's for my G.I.Joe tastes, and I feel it's on more shakey ground to succeed, than the S6 line, as it has no cartoon and I'm concerned about it's being advertised enough, to those that don't participate online, about their Joe hobby.

Corey's a G.I.Joe fan, even OVER his being a businessman, so I think he's made some very excellent points and it was a good read. If this takes off for us, we'll see even BETTER product in the future, as I agree about this stuff being sort of the leftovers from prior productions. :)

I'll take the laissez-faire approach, and continue to complain about minutia in Hasbro's paradigm. It makes me feel embiggened. @smilepunch@

Of course the owner of an online store who makes almost all its money catering to 3 3/4" GI JOE fans would want everyone to support the DTC product. Duh.

trust me, Corey would not invest the time and effort he does into his business if he wasnt a fan as well. I mean, do you see any Avon ladies or Amway people selling GIJOES online to make extra bucks?

Besides, every owner of a website that deals in toys Ive ever known was also a big fan as well (i.e. Curt from GIJOEHQ, Val from he-man.org, Joel from this site, etc)

Toiletmonkey: I dont know about the minutia boy band thing. No wait! actually it was "Menudo" Wasnt Rico Suave in it? THats pretty bad that we even remember that. Must have seen too much VH1 lol.

Agreed Corey 100%. I am going to support the line and pray that it continues for sometime to come. As some have said this is what I was asking for a LONG time. Single card figures with original art as well as bring back other characters that we hae not seen for years like SALVO ;)

I agree with everything said and realize the importance of it and the DTC line. I may have complained a little about the pricing, but I have come around since then and realized it's everything we've wanted since 1995. I already bought a case, one Crimson Guard, and both comic packs and I plan on buying more in the near future. Thank you Hasbro, keep up the great work.

There's a can of worms you should have left the lid on. That whole debacle over some so-called "hiatus" was a major Faux pas on Hasbro's part, and it should have NEVER even been mentioned as either or (hiatus or cancellation) <_<

This is the line of thinking that creates "fanboys"...as they hope upon hope, that the "benefit of the doubt" they're offering up, on Hasbro's behalf, comes to fruition and they're rewarded somehow as a loyalist, even against all odds.

Problem is...9 times out of 10 (in the past) they've been left holding their pee pee's in their hands, and after much a ballyhoo! @loll@

Naw...Hasbro mangled the whole issue of a "hiatus" so no apologies are even necessary from those that spoke their minds on it.

I'm not disagreeing with you about the prices. Just that if things COULD be cheaper without the flashy packaging, some people wouldn't have a problem with generic packaging.

And it's great about you getting your money back.
