Hi,

To anyone at or going to the SDCC, PLEASE ask about that new 3 3/4" Cobra Commander figure we have been seeing on eBay.

I am dying to know when it will be out and if it is in a multipack or hopefully in DTC single carded Wave 3.

Appreciate any info/help.

thanks,

Larry

Today is the offical Star Wars day for the SDCC, and Hasbro will be hosting pannels for their Star Wars toyline, along with Transformers and G.I.Joe. So check back later today for a report on those, and be sure to check out our Galleries for tons a new images from yesterday, with more coming today.

snagged this from the news section, so here's hoping it'll get asked :)

Not sure if this was mentioned if it was i'm sorry i just must have missed it but, has anyone noticed that some of the new Direct To Consumer figures share designs with GIJOE Sigma 6. If you look at that new Cobra Commander we just haven't seen him in his full armor with helmet but if you look at the new Sigma 6 prototype the body with the skirt are exactly the same. Granted Spirit has two different designs but if you look at the art for some of the Dreadnoks specifically the Torch design its the same as the Valor Vs Venom one.

Someone posted it in another topic. Here it is (suposedly)

I'd like to see the colors darkened up for him though. More like the S6 version of him we're seeing, and not so much of this Baby Blue.

how can you guys be sure this figure is CC? It doesnt completely strike me as a Cobra Commander. Could be a decoy or, with a mask on, a different army builder type, perhaps.

This is a figure that was originally sold by "sohappyfish2000" on Ebay. The first auction I saw for it had a hood with it (IE- VvV 7 CC) but it seemed more like an add-on than a real accessory.

I'm betting that we will see this figure down the road, just like we're seeing a lot of DTC product that supports the Robot Rebellion theme- despite denials from Hasbro that such a theme ever existed. It's just a case that they most likely can't say ANYTHING about it yet and therefore aren't.

Basically this Cobra Commander is a 3 3/4" version of the Sigma Six (abandoned Robot Rebellion) design. The biggest difference is Hasbro is sticking with the classic lighter blue color for the small figure's costume rather than going with the dark blue like the S6 version.

I have the figure and I can tell you it is incredible. While I was unsure about it prior to getting it, once I could see it in person it became one of my favorites.

First, he is a completely new sculpt figure. Even the head is new and is ball jointed. He is a smaller more proportioned scale. His blue plastic has a slight metallic sheen to it....probably to give it an metal armor appearance. The detailing is great and you can tell that Hasbro really put effort to make a great figure. I don't have accessories for it but I can only assume he will come with a removable S6 design helmet/hood headpiece, a gun and/or scepter and possibly a cape....the more the better as this figure deserves it! Hopefully he will truly be a 3 3/4" version of Sigma 6 style because if the show is good we will have the best of both worlds.

That being said, it would be a crime if this figure was released in a multipack. This figure NEEDS to be on a SINGLE CARD. It would be an exceptional sight to see this piece packed with the great artwork of the single cards next to it.

I cannot wait for more details about this figure and hopefully Hasbro will release some info soon.

If anyone has any info about it, please post or pm me. I will keep any private info confidential.

thanks,

Larry

Well I asked the HASBRO guy and he told me there are no plans in the immediate future (the first few waves of DTC) to bring any new sculpt, "CORE" characters. He said it is has been hard to find out who is making these figures and also said some of the figures on ebay are in fact theirs, while others are making them for their own personal gain. He also added HASBRO has no plans in the immediate future for Firefly (re deco) - the one that we have seen on ebay.

I guess we will have to wait. Also on a later note: Sigma was well received (I heard a lot of people and kids talking about it) and clips were shown that are going to be in the first episode. It look promising. It airs on Fox on Sept 10th (around 10:30am/11:00am.

HASBRO rep, if you are reading this, thanks for being a cool guy and answering my questions. We all appreciate it.

Nope the red was changed to green from what I heard. However I know that is what they told you Tazz but they are blowing smoke up your rear...... they no where FF and CC both are going. And 99% of the figs on Ebay are theirs. Rejected paint schemes or soon to be released figs. Its just public BS they like to smoke out there.
