Nothing too hype from my point of view, the few cool figures we already saw...this time DCD doesn't really have anything to blow me away like some of the other companies.

If DCD had more consistency in their sculpts, I would definitely collect them. But it looks like each wave of figures is made by a totally different team.. Its hard to have 1 of each figure that all look like they go together.

 

I also don't like the articulation.. Hate those thigh cuts and the crotch joints too.

Well, the scale of the cloth on the figure says to me its a 12" scale. That'd be something cool/fun to get. Not sure i like the boots on Hal, but the sculpt looks excellent on the face--this looks 100% better than the previous 12" attempts by Hasbro. Superman looks very cool though.

 

The smaller figures look like mostly re-use--in the case of Superman his head is different, but the body is the same as the JLA version. Batman's head looks.....bizarre. Maybe its supposed to be some "mind-wiped" version ( with maybe more "mind" than "wiped".)

The JLU cartoons must have tainted my memories of Jon Stewart, because he looks VERY lean here--I would have expected a bit more bulk to his sculpt.

 

 

The decapitated Flash head sitting beside what must be the Crisis version is just too funny though.

 

 

My initial thoughts about this stuff are that its all just too bland. articulation of the figures ( my continual beef with DC Direct) the stuff seems to lack some of the stylized interpretations that make the Marvel Legends so fun sometimes ( here I go again). Sometimes the strict adherence to comics-accuracy can limit a product--this ( to my eyes) looks to be a bit of the case here.

 

Still, those 12" figures............nice........

I love that Azrael Batman...but with the announcement of the DC "Legends" line,I much would prefer to see an AzBats in that line rather than DC Direct right now.

The Green Lantern is actually part of the new 13" DCD line. They are pricey at about $90 a pop. The only other figure to be solicited in the line is Superman and it's not out yet.

I love DCD and it's my main line. However, I'm getting a little upset that they won't finish some of their lines:

 

-JSA

-Super Friends

-Teen Titans

 

Etc., etc......................................
