A Look At The Last 2 C3 Environment Playsets

I left these 2 sets for last because they seemed to be the more common ones. But there was no point putting it off any longer since I have no idea how long stores would still have these in stock now that they’re on clearance. I was planning on buying these at TRU for $6.99, but how could I say no to K-Mart’s price of $6.29?

Speaking of K-Mart, never have I seen such rude cashiers in my life. And I’m not talking about the ones who just manhandle the cards of action figures while scanning them, I’m talking full on attitude from the girl in the box because I had the audacity to choose her register. I so wish I had a jar of pennies to pay for my purchase with.

First up is the Bat Glider set with Stealth Batman and Catwoman. This set never really jumped out at me when I saw it on store shelves. It just seemed too simplistic.

The Stealth Batman minimate is a bit odd. The figure appears to be in a purple parachute jumper outfit. Purple is a color that just doesn’t suit Batman very well. The helmet looks cool though. What’s cool is that any non-traditional Batmans always come with a spare chest piece and cowl to make him look more like himself. I definitely like him better in the traditional look, even though his arms and legs are still purple. I can’t help think how much cooler this figure could have been if it was done in black.

Catwoman is the real prize in this set. She sports the modern age look with the vinyl suit and goggles. Which brings us to the coolest part of the figure, the goggles are actually transparent. The eyes you see behind the goggles are the eyes on the figure’s head. I only wish she came with a separate hair piece for when you take the mask off.

There isn’t much I can say about the glider. It’s a pretty simple design. It looks like a giant bat. The figure doesn’t snap into anything, he just has to hold onto the handles. I can’t think of any practical applications for the glider. This is a set that should be passed on unless you really really want a Catwoman.

The last set of the 4 is Darkseid’s Throne Room. There are so many reasons to get this set. Not the least of which is the minimates.

Superman is perfect. From the length of his boots to his spit curl, this is Superman. Like the others he has 14 points of articulation. He also has this trademark cape.

Darkseid is great as well. He has a lot of detailing all over. Plus, he’s a villain, you can’t go wrong with that.

The blocks, however, are pretty simple. You have a few flat panels, some rectangles that make a throne, and what looks like a giant fire hydrant behind the throne.

They also included a cool clear stand to make it look like Superman is flying.

Behind the hydrant, however is a torture chamber. It has kryptonite restraints so that Darksied can hold Superman while he tortures him by making him read Devin Grayson’s issues of Nightwing.

Overall, a pretty good set, even if only for the minimates.

Great Review Y2 !! The only set from the 4 i haven't picked up yet is the Superman with Throne Room. I think the next set i really want to get is the Batmobile. I'm hoping the Batcave keeps going down in price at TRU since right now its at 27.99 I missed the sale when it was ten bucks on Amazon.

What's really sad is that you guys are reviewing a product that's been out on shelves for a year. The line has died because there wasn't any big box retailer interest in continuing the line. That comes as a result of 2 things - AA/Playalong's failure to properly market the line thru advertising of any sort, and secondly, a lack of support from customers. Had more of you purchased them and done your 'reviews' a year ago, we might be talking about the Begins C3 that were shown at Toy Fair - not the year old sets that are on clearance.

Yeah. Saving $4.00 is certainly worth the line dying. Y'know how else you can save $4.00? Don't eat McDonalds. Wanna save $6? Don't supersize your meal. Buy toys when they're new on the shelf if you want them to make more. Unfortunately, this line isn't going to get the chance.

I think you're taking this way too personal.

It's not my job to go out and save every toyline because the manufacturer makes the mistake of overpricing/under-advertising their product.

I remember a similar argument being made about He-Man where fans blamed eachother for the line dying.

Now I'm bowing out before my thread gets locked.

Not saying you should save every toy line. Just saying the fact that the line is done makes your review kind of, well, pointless.

Because they were too expensive.

No one wants to spend 10 bucks on a few crappy bricks and two mini-figures. Lamelamelame.
