Wow, that list was very helpful. I didn't notice most of those subtle changes. I haven't bought the 2004 DVD release of the OT because I've been waiting for (what will hopefully be) the final release of the entire saga after ROTS comes out on DVD. Hopefully the lightsabers will get tweaked just a bit (although overall I like them much more than they appeared in the original release) and maybe the CGI will get cleaned up in a few places so that it blends better with the original scenes when it sticks out too much. I like the idea of Temuera Morrison redoing all of the stormtrooper and Boba Fett lines over, but I feel he could have done a better job of it. He needs to sound more menacing. I always thought that Boba Fett sounded kinda like a guy in his late fifties or sixties, though, which never seemed that threatening to me. @smilepunch@

Well... they did not redo the Stromtrooper lines. That is one of my big arguments for the Stormtroopers not being clones (or at least not clones of Jango :)). As far as Boba... it makes sense in context, and I would have probably gotten over by now if only Morrison's delivery had been better. I mean, he didn't even get the inflection right! The actual voice... I felt the voice didn't really sound like any age really. I always thought that it sounded like his voice was being altered through a filter (and that would also explain why Boba sounds different then Jango). Oh well... at least it is only four lines.

I was googling this morning and came accross a cool site that reviewed the original Star Wars and compared it to the re-leasese (both 1997 and the latest DVD release):

A New Hope

The Empire Strikes Back

Return of the Jedi

It is pretty cool and it has some audio/video comparison too.

Nice links (even though the ads suck).

That got me to thinking: for one scene I would change, it's the extended edition part where droids are carrying scrap from an old transport:

I'd replaced them with rusted-out reprogrammed battle droids or destroyer droids from the new trilogy, so those things simply don't disappear from the story after being there so long.

The author of those articles has been updating them but is seems the link posted above for ANH and ESB are to some page that is not getting said updates. Here are links to the updated articles:

Here are a few things he missed that I am going to submit:

There is also a change to the audio in the Greedo scene just before the shooting.  In the original Han's line is "Yes, I'll bet you have!", but in the SE they removed the audio for the word yes so the line is then  just "I'll bet you have!".  The really odd thing is that they only took out the audio and you still see Han mouth the word yes.  This has (thankfully) been restored in the 2004 DVD.

Also, in the originals, anytime you see a shot of R2 in space all of his blue parts are black (I assume due to the use of blue screen) but in the SE versions of ESB and ROTJ they digitally turned them the correct blue (ANH remained unchanged).  The 2004 DVD version of ANH also has this change.

Thanks for posting these eagle101st! I had a link that had only the Original to SE changes and really wanted an update. :)
