Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith

The dialogue is the only thing holding me back from a completely perfect rating. Other than that aspect, I was amazed by this film. Fantastic special effects, and amazing battles. The Mustafar battle was breath taking, I was definitely wowed during that entire portion of the film. The Emperor proved to be a lot cooler than I expected, and I expected quite a bit out of him. The film was very emotional, which was surprising. Definitely worth the wait, and an excellent way to go out.

it was a great movie, I liked it. theres was a couple of things that stood out and I thought were a bit off but I can understand why Lucas did it.

-I was disappointeed that there was no qui-gon

-The naming of the kids was bit fast but like its been said she probably had names in mind for a long time.

-When Vader breaks free. He reminded me of frankenstein, but i can understand he walked like that because he had gotten his leg cut off and wasnt used to his new legs. The second part was his lines. Bit cornish but you have to understand that he is still Anakin and hadnt totaly become Darth Vader yet.

That whole part was just bad to me. Bad acting, the naming of the kids, Padme's generic death, everything.

Other parts had their flaws, but that one part was the one I felt they should have completely re-done.

That was corny. Even cartoon villians can give a better "nnnnoooooooo!!!" than that.

Anyone else notice that one of the medical droids that worked on Vader is the same type that worked on Luke on Hoth in ESB? It was nice to see some vintage stuff in there (including the blockade runner).

yeah i noticed that too. I was disappointed by vader's medical droid, DO NOT ASK ME WHY I BOUGHT THAT PIECE OF CRAP FIGURES, becuase I really don't konw. Same with Polis Massan, they both suck, but I lost the receipt to return them.

Loved it. What minor issues I have are far outweighed by the good. Excellent Palpatine stuff, and I actually cared for Anakin.

I'm not so sure Palpy created Anakin. I'm thinking it might have been Darth Plageuos, his master. Palpy seemed to mention that he and Anakin could find a way to heal Padme, which would mean Palpy didn't have the power to do it himself. If he couldn't heal her, I wouldn't think he could create life. But that's just my opinion. Feel free to disagree with me.

Yeah that's what my thinking was. I thought Darth Plageuos was the one who created Anakin. Of course who Palpatine killed.

A couple of more things. I wished we could have seen Vader fight. I wish he would have attacked Palpatine when he told him "You killed Padme" instead of just saying noooooo. Also I was wishing that when Anakin turned to the dark side we could have seen him start using the red lightsaber.

Found this on the forums on theforce.net:

In the book "The Making of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith" It goes through the rough drafts of the story It showed dialogue with palps telling anakin that he created him through the force.

Pg. 42

Darth Sidious: I have waited all these years for you to fulfill your destiny(...) I have arranged for your conception. I used the power of the force to will the midichlorians to start the cell divisions that created you.

Anakin: I don't believe you.

Darth Sidious: Ahhh, but you know it's true. When you clear your mind, you will sense the truth. You could almost think of me as your father.

Anakin:Thats Impossible!

Darth Sidious:Nevertheless, you must decide...

Qui-Gon actually shows up in the Revenge of the Sith novel. He appears to Yoda and talks with him. During the movie I was waiting for Qui-Gon to show up and he never did....at least not onscreen.

The best parts of the film had to be the battles between Anakin and Obi-Wan, Mace Windu and Palpatine and Yoda and Palpatine. Mace and Yoda both actually came very close to defeating Palpatine. Yoda more so than Mace. Like during the Force Lightning battle in the senate. Palpatine was actually struggling against the power of Yoda. But, if Yoda or Mace had defeated Palpatine right then and there SW history would have been altered and the original trilogy would never have happened.

My cousin called Thursday night, and she wants all of us to go with her to see it tonight for her birthday. See there were us three boys growing up just above where my cousins lived, and there were three of them; three boys and three girls. And they loved Star Wars just as much as we did. As a matter of fact, one of my earliest memories was of a Saturday morning when my dad took my brother and I to the store to buy our very first Star Wars figures, and I'm talking the very first 1978 Kenner figures. My brother bought Darth Vader, and I got C-3PO. When we got home we ran down the hill to our cousins' house we were so excited. We just had to show them.

Suprisingly enough, my mom's gonna go with us again tonight, along my younger brother and his wife, my aunt and my other cousin, the one that called, and my older brother and maybe his wife. It's gonna be like old times when we'd all get together and go see the latest Star Wars movie. It's just sad that my dad's not here to be with us; he was always the one to load us up to go see the movies. This will be my second time to see ROTS. And guys, my mother actually went with us Wednesday night at midnight to see it the first time! (lol) My parents made me the Star Wars nut I am today. (lol)

Yoda quit because he realized how pointless the fight was.....even if he won and killed Palpatine he would be playing into his hands and "proving" that Jedi were really trying to take over the government.  Palpatine had the devotion of the people and his death would have really started a Jedi witch hunt.

Then why did he go to Palpatines office to begin with??

Well he thought that by taking out Palpatine the Sith would fall. Perhaps during the fight he realized that it was much more than a Jedi/Sith confict now. Remember the galaxy love Palpatine and thinks Jedi scarred him. How would a Jedi (who by the way are held responible for the war and the carnage it bought) explain that to the masses.

Yoda: Tell you I must the Chancellor was Sith

Senate guy: Excuse me Sith??

Yoda: Yes, evil Jedi I killed.

Senate: So you mean to tell us the guy who ended the war is evil?? But the people who started the war and fought while this guy was trying to end it was evil?? You expect me to believe that.

Yoda:Yes

Senate: Throw the $%^#@$ out an airlock.

This was a fight that even if Yoda won he would lose. A Pyoric victory if you will. He probably realized that and bowed out. If you look at how deeply Palpatine had ingrained himself in the public eye and shaped popular opinion you'd see thay was the smartest thing Yoda did.

Yeah, that was kind of a let-down... who knows, maybe it'll be added in the DVD or something. I would have liked to see some more Clone action, too. I don't remember ever seeing the Clone Commander the figure was based on, for example.

Otherwise, I LOVED it. (And I'm finally able to read the posts in the SW section without fear of spoilers!)

I don't know why people always point to the acting in SW movies as their main weak point. It has become a cliche. Besides, if you found the movie believable enough, then the acting worked. The only time I was put off a bit was in a couple of scenes where Palpatine got a bit goofy, and that's about it. And otherwise, Ian McDiarmid's acting was superb.

The best/most compelling/disturbing scene was definitely the Jedi massacre, and specifically when Anakin found the younglings. I knew it was coming (damn reviewer) but it still didn't ruin it for me, and the way Lucas filmed it was more chilling than anything else he could have done.

Why do people get defensive about people pointing out the bad acting in SW movies?

Because the acting isn't really that bad and you have to wonder why any Star Wars fan would make a big deal about acting that is better than what is scene in most other films.

I think at times some of the criticism can be nit-picky and whiny. Too often people let those things ruin their experience. As we all know Lucas based these off his experiences at movie-series when he was a kid and I'd be willing to bet the quality of acting then was never the main draw.

That being said, most of the acting, save Obi-Wan and Anakin (2nd Half), was pretty average.

My wife made a good observsation. Yoda withdrew at this time cause he decided he could not beat Palpatine and when his cloak was floating there in the air it made it seemed like he was dead, so thats when he decided to make a strategic retreat.

At the end of the movie, were the ships making TIE fighter noises actually TIE fighters? They looked odd to me. Some sort of further hybrid of the Jedi Starfighter maybe?

Also, did Palpatine ask for Captain Cody to bring his shuttle to got to Mustafar or did I hear that wrong? While watching, I thought that was a neat reference back to the first Clone he gave Order 66, like he knew he was a good soldier and kept him around to work for him.

I'll need to watch the film a few more times to pick up everything. There was too much to digest in such a short time. The movie could have been 4 hours and it would have worked just fine. The pacing was too quick in parts. Overall, I loved it. I thought the acting and dialogue was fine, no worse than the OT. My only beef was Padme dying, and for no real reason at that. That doesn't synch up with ROTJ. I can't buy Leia being able to see visions of her mother thru the Force but Luke can't do the same.

The V-Fighter are the ships that made the Tie noise and are early versions of the tie, though to be honest when you see them up close they dont really look like ties, even early versions.

No I foregt the name Palpatine said, but it wasnt Cody.

Anyone notice when they had the shots of all the clones standing around Kenobi's ship going over their plan of attack for Grevious, that the only clone that appeared to be based of Jango was Cody, the others looked different?
