TM (and others)- I've sold customs on Ebay before that I thought would do very well, but the sad fact is most people aren't willing to pay for the work or art that goes into them. I'm not just alking about my own either, there are several other great customizers whose work doesn't get noticed because they aren't a "featured artist" or known oustide of Joe circles.

Joe collectors in particular are notoriously cheap. That's not an insult mind you, just a fact. We've gotten away with paying relitavely little for customs, figures and vehicles for so long that we expect it all the time. Imagine if you collected G1 TF, or maybe the original Indiana Jones line...those have some very premium priced pieces in them. Not to say Joe doesn't (Starduster, Gold SB, etc...), but that it's easier to pass on those kinds of purchases because there is always so much more to buy.

My buddy Matt74 is a good example. Great guy and friend. Cheap as the dickens. I've been telling him for about a year now, that since his collection is almost complete, that he needed to buckle down and pay for the "rare" pieces he put off while buying all of the inexpensive figures. Now, all that's left are the $$$ stuff, and their only getting more expensive and in shorter supply due to the increase in collector demand. Tough call.

Personally if I want something, money is generally not an object, and I've gotten some great deals because of that. Starduster (version C) complete mint w/ FC for $10. TF Outback accs for $5. Foresteiro for $35. You get the idea.

The point is that collectors outside our hobby are used to giving big bucks for their stuff, and now we are having to learn that lesson. This guy just happened to sell that Lady Jaye at the right time, and profitted big from it. I'll bet it doesn't happen again.

So, as you can see...it's just a matter of getting the items listed at the right time, and having the right buyer on the line. I wish I would've made more on these guys, because I feel like they were worth it, but I am biased since I made them. Man, I miss Solid Snake.

PS- Sorry about the giant pics, I forgot they weren't sized properly before listing them.

I know what you're talking about Alyosha......my friend is a big customizer and he puts his stuff on ebay too. Mostly minimates and an occasional Marvel Legend figure. The same thing happens to him.....sometimes he has to re-list stuff and some times he gets like 20 bucks at the most. Some of his stuff does do well on ebay though......he was disgusted with the price that Lady Jaye went for too when I showed him the auction.

Alyosha those were great Customs, I love Duke, Beach head, Gung Ho and the Cobra Soldier. I would buy all of those.... I say this Lady Jaye went for High money for the simple reason that theres never been an acceptable official version. And theres not very many good Lady Jaye customs for sale. Its a good concept that should be better executed. Is a cartoon accurate Lady Jaye really asking for so much?

These are the best females Ive seen. I bet these would fetch a pretty penny on Ebay. The sweet faces and custom breast really work nicely.

Yep, those were done by my bud Kamakura over at the JC boards. He entered those (and his ladies of Cobra) at the Con last year as well, and should have won an award for them. He got ripped.
