Scaplers Are The Lowest Of All Bottom Feeders

on my saturday morning hunt i ran into this same guy at 4 different stores. i talked to him at the first one and he didn't even know what was out or what to look for. he just said he was toy shopping and after talking to me, he bought all the same things i did. i wondered wtf? then we went to the walmart tent which opened at 8:00, only they weren't ready, and they didn't open until 9:00. meanwhile tru and target opened at 8:00 and sold out of their exclusives, but we couldn't leave our place in line because walmart's exclusive was the best one to get if we could only get one. ANYWAY, we finally get our early bird sets and take off. by this time it is about 10:00. I see him at target and of course the vaders are sold out. he comes up to me and shows me a beat up one he bought from a scalper right there at target for $100! then at 11:30 i found the last vader at another target! i wish i could have seen that guy again to tell him. i still feel stupid though for missing the tru yoda to stand in line at walmart because all 3 of our walmarts still had tons of the early bird sets left that afternoon.

one of the targets I hit today, one guy grabbed a box of lava vaders and walked off. Everyone was like, yo dude, its one per person, he just ignores everyone and gets to the register to pay.

manager tells him to hand over the box and that he can have one vader.

scalper argues and wants to speak to a regional manager. He doesn't let go of the box. He says he will pay full price and that he is a customer and the customer is always right.

In the end, he is forced to hand over the box or security will call the cops.

He takes the box and smashes it in the ground. steps on it and kicks it. walks away. nothing is said.

now THAT'S an ahole right there.

thank goodness Target had another case.

Damn!!! What a pr*ck!!!!!!!!!!!

Man I would have said something with the hopes of taunting him to come over to me for that.

I thought I had seen it all and then this dude pulls a little girl stunt just like that.

at least he didn't even get one

I've never seen a little girl act like that.

That was just beyond low, and the guy deserved an ass-kicking simply out of principle.

The store should have called the police. thats destruction of property.

While I agree that scalpers suck and should be beat up on sight I have a problem with hoarding figures as well.

First off, it is the opening weekend of the figures being released. That means that all of the fans are going to be frantically searching for the figures that they want and the Red Guards are a nice figure to search for. A lot of people have jobs and lives and won't be able to make ot when the doors open. So an individual like yourself, who has snatched up 7+ Red Royal Guards is causing the same means to an end as a scalper. If it's OK what you did I think it is OK for the guy who wanted to buy the case of Lava Vaders (not the smashing part) but the attemtp to buy te case. We don't know he was a scalper do we? Maybe he wanted them to trade or for some friends.

Taking and hoarding all the HTF figures on the first days they are released for your army is selfish.

There were plenty red and blue guards left at the places that I got my figs.

I counted them before I decided on the amount of figs that I was going to purchase. I do the same thing when I army build my GI JOE figs. I NEVER leave a store behind without any unless it is the only figure of that kind that I find

At one Wal-mart there were 13 left..this is where I grabbed my first 4, then there were 10 at the next one.

At the KB nobody was there and I could have walked out with as many of the blue guards as they had but I only grabbed 3 of them..also they had red guards there on the pegs and I did not purchase them from KB because I felt that I had already gotten enough of the red guards for the day.

I cannot believe that I even have to defend myself for army building figs when half the time we all are ooohing and ahhing over pics people put up of the their collections and they have like 50 storm troopers or in the case of GI JOE collectors insane multiples of hard to find figures such as Vipers, CG's and Cobra Infantry troops

How about you guys that wrote how you have the multiples of exclusive figures such as Lava Vader or Holo Yoda.. Do you like being compared to a scalper? Called a Hoarder?

Hell, I could have gotten a few Vaders by going to other Targets and or Yoda's from Amazon, but I only purchased one of each because of the fact that THESE are exclusives

This whole comparison is rediculous

I think the word scalper is bieng thrown around too much. If you see a guy buying multiples of a certain character, why does that automaticly make him a hoarder or a scalper? what if he's buying for friends? or army building? nothin wrong with that. The only reason people are feeling this way is because of the midnight madness and the sence of urgency "ohh I have to have these right now or I'll never see these again" BULLSH!T- in a couple of weeks we'll be complaining because we can't find later waves because the first waves are still cloggin the pegs, then nobody will have a problem with you army building. So get what you want as many as you want, they'll make more-that bieng said, if you are in fact buying these for profit (and I don't mean you specificly TJ)and are preying on hopeless fanboys with the "I gotta have it now" mentality, then yeah you do suck. So basicly it's all about instant gratification.

Iceman, I agree with alot of your points and disagree with just as many-The whole "people have regular jobs and can't make it" arguement just doesn't any water with me. Why? because I have a fulltime job AND a full time family and I still got what I wanted, it just took a little extra effort. Do I feel bad for these people? no. everybody and their mothers have known that April second was the release date for the this stuff for months, they couldn't plan a little better? asked for an evening shift that day at work or asked to come in a little early? most employers, if given the right amount of notice have no problem with asking for time off.

Man..what a day

first off..I hate scalpers

My first stop was Wal-mart bright and early to get the EB set.. Waited outside for about a half an hour and walked away with only 4 Red Royal Guards because this Wal-Mart did not have any EB sets.

So I rush up to the next Wal-mart keeping an eye on the time so I do not miss out on the Target opening and again..no EB set but three more Red Royal Guards.

I rush to the Target and am greeted by a line of about 13 people..not bad I think. Everyone here will be able to score a Vader. The doors open and we ask where the coupons are and we are told that the Vaders are just on the shelves. and they are not going to worry about handing out vouchers. All these people that had been talking to each other so nicely just a few minutes before turn into raving lunatics as they scramble to get through the doors and beat each other to the toy aisle. By the time I and some others get down to the toy section there are 3 people that have hoarded all the Vaders and are proceeding to leave while they are talking about how much money they are going to get for these.

I screamed out.."What the F$%k" which got the attention of a nearby employee who rushed over while the scalpers were running to the registers. I aired my greviance to the employee who immediately saw that this situation was going to get ugly if he didn't do something immediately. He called up to the front and told the cashiers to stop ringing the scalpers up. He then asked us to follow us up to the front where he took the scalpers baskets and handed out the Vader's to us right in front of them while they were complaining the whole time. By the time it was over and with the new people that had arrived only one of the scalpers was able to purchase a single Vader while the other two were sh$t out of luck

I then rush to the KB where there is nobody and I grab their Exclusive Chewie and three Blue Royal Guards

I ordered the Yoda off Amazon last night and just placed an order for the EB set on Wal-Mart.com and took advantage of the online only Target case sales

I am set for awhile and am going to take a nap now

Have man,

I heard about you plight and you may have a chance.Walmart.com is selling the EB kit.If you didn't get it they still have the I think.

All these stories make me glad I live in an area of a low scalper/collector population.

I went to Walmart at midnight "for the experience"

To my surprise, things were very civil. There were maybe half a dozen people waiting, and another half showing up shortly after the stuff was available for sale. People even waited until the employee had taken the tarp off the entire section before grabbing figures, even then, people were polite with no shoving. Even when I went back several hours later, there was still plenty of everything to go around (no doubt helped by the 4x4 of figure in the aisle in addition to the wall), including VAders, Emperors, and Clone Troopers. Most seemed to be legitimate fans/collectors, many of whom spent far more than me (I only got 4 figures, but Target got me 3 more).

Target seemed hit harder, no Vaders, Dookus, Palpatines, Troopers, etc. But they did have a good number of red Royal Guards (I got two which are now flanking my Darth Vader).

So in all, I had a fairly pleasant opening weekend (though I didn't find any Clone Commanders or AT TE Gunners, darn stores for getting only the first couple cases)

TJHooker-Your stores must have had all the goods because from what I hear the Red Trooper is scarce. You didn't mention that there were plenty of them on the pegs still after you took yours. How do you know that the guy with the case was a scalper?

BAH.... he's not "hoarding" I hate that word.. hoarding is buying all that you can to keep others from getting them.. THAT he's not doing, he's getting the amount he wants, and that's it, just because it's hard to get in your area, or you weren't able to get them, doesn't mean he's "hoarding" them, heck, people here are stating figures that they really wanted, but by the time they got there, they were gone, and I walk into 5 stores this morning, and they have FULL pegs... if I was to buy 2 of each of those fugures, from all the stores I went to this morning, you guys would start ranting and raving, and calling me names because you could't find anything, but to be honest, with the amount of figures that are around here, for every 2 figures I buy, I'm leaving avout 10 there... and no, I'm not buying all those figures, I just giving you an example of how many figures some people have in there area...

let me put it this way... within a 15 min drive in either direction, here's what I have, store wise, in my area...

north:

TRU, Walmart, Target

north east:

Target, Walmart, Target

East:

Kmart, Target, Walmart

South East:

Target, Walmart

South:

Target, Target, TRU, kmart

South West:

Meijer, Walmart, Target, Meijer

West:

Tru, Targer, SuperTarget(2 honestly), walmart, Meijer, KB

If I was to stretch out to about 20-30 mins away, I'd have to add to that list big time, there's probably another 10-15 stores I can name off the top of my head that are NOT on that list.. so lets not be bitter towards others, just cause you cant find something...

I agree with Jaster... on the scalper issue too, it's really hard to tell who is and who's buying some for their brother... but sometimes.. they reak of it... like the guy who was real quick to eyeball thefigures and lunge to get the red and blue guards and got 2 lava vaders by going back out to his car and back in again.. yeah, he could have really been getting them for friends, or what not, but I saw him at 3 stores, and that's all he was gunning for, red guards and vaders and after he noticed me, he diverted his eyes... plus, all the army builders I know, we get what we can, when we can, not hoard them all at once... anyway... I'm done...

The sad part is that any idiot that buys from the scalpers just isnt thinking. Im betting that not one of the initial 52 figs will be hard to find at all in the near future. Hasbro is going to make so many of these figs that they could build a deathstar with the plastic. Remember last time when duku and the pilots were a pain or Maul before that. I actualy laughed at a scalper on Fri night. I asked him to clear a few more pegs so new stuff could be put out...lol.

Now the scalpers with the exclusives are bull. That just stinks all the way around. I know at my target they gave us numbers and it was one per person. That was cool as we all got one.

I was just at Target today. Just a couple of hours ago, and they had 7 of these Buffed out POTF Lava Vaders. I guess they were cool, but not $12.99 cool. Three of the seven were smashed, so i'm sure they weren't going anywhere, and I picked the better packaged one out of the remaining four, just decided I'd get it for the hell of it. Maybe I'll get my clear Yoda one of these days if TRU ever gets them. But all I really want is a freaking Darth Tater, and theres 250 something auctions for him on Ebay, damn it!!!!

I need to find two of them, my girlfriend and I want one, and I have to get one for my mom, shes gonna give it to my nephew and niece to play with. Thanks for offering, but it gives me something to track down, hopefully I'll find one sometime this week. I have my doubts that most of this will be hard to get, it's just the early hype has made some things harder to get. In a week or two stores will be overloaded to the point, that they'll have to have huge clearance sales to get rid of it all.

So what is the problem with the guy trying to buy the case of Lava Vader's? Maybe he just wanted to have a collection of Lava Vaders or he was gonna hook up some friends or use them for trade?

Noone likes to be called scalper but they have no problems calling someone else one.

Because other people might want a Lava Vader. Look, you may say that he's doing a service to the public as he's not keeping it. However, what he's doing is cheating others out of a fair chance. What other chance do other people have at getting Lavy at the normal price? Nada.

You see, overpricing on things that have been hoarded is wrong in my books. Army building is fine too. At least people have been using them. To me, if the toy is being played with, appreciated or both, then it's fine. If a toy is used for making a buck (Or in this case, hundreds) here and there, then that's just wrong. If they want to sell it, why don't they open their own store?

A real collecter would have given up, & just ended up taking one this guy did neither... Plus he threw them on the ground & stomped on them...

As for all this red guard BS... please... you guys are ****ing full of you're selfs! TJ just ignore these whiners :) Allso tj if you want more theres plenty near me ha! :D

Personaly I don't think any of these exclusives will be hard to find down the line... Are any of the starwars exclusives really worth anything now days?.. TRU is suppose to be getting more yodas in & if you buy $25 worth of stuff or show them you're bill they will give you one...

& from what I've read vader will be restocked soon too at targets...

All the regular figures well... its just the hype of it all... they will all be as common as **** in a few weeks or so...

Why can no one find red guards?

Haven't seen one blue guard yet.

And for my two cents, hoarding scalping or whatever, taking more than 6 of the same figure of the pegs at one time is selfish.
