Hoard All You Want!

Good I hope he never returns. The freaking nerve of him whining and crying over a vehicle he never intended to get. Blaming a diehard collector for buying some. I'm glad he got what he deserves.

It's probably none of my business, but thecaymth was moaning and complaining about Hammerfel being a "hoarder" for buying five Ice Sabres and blames people like him for the "rest of us" not being able to find anything...then he turns around on this thread and brags about how many Cobra Infantry sets he has. The pot officially called the kettle black I think. (lol) I just think it was hypocritical of him to basically do the same thing he was giving Hammerfel a hard time for.

And VH, I read what he said dude. It was bad bad BAD y'all. Very bad...

I actually count the Infantry packs as the new figures and not RAH scale. Maybe if the heads were the right size...

Yay! Thanks man. Now you're sending me FIVE of them babies, right? (lol)

Seriously, thanks man for hooking me up. The last time I found that thing was in a TRU during Christmas break when I took my dad to the doctor. Of course I was broke at the time...

I also got an e-mail from Entertainment Earth telling me my Wave 7 case has shipped! WOO-HOO!!! I'm on a roll. I'll provide a brief, limited review of each two-pack for y'all when I get them. (Now if I can just get Wave 6...)

I'll be checking my Targets tomorrow!!!!

Guys,

I have been a guest on here for a few months. I just registered. Where I live, I have found all the comic packs, the desert coyote and venom chamber, the desert humvee and night adder repaint, most of the TRU 6-packs, even wave six at a couple of places. The only things I have not found yet are wave 3 single packs and the Ice Sabre. I love going to the stores for the thrill of the hunt more than anything. It makes me feel like a kid again looking for a Storm Shadow or Snake Eyes figure back in the 80's. I'll be glad to look for anything you want. No guarantees, but I'll look. Just email me at dakele@hotmail.com and we'll work out a price or trade.

Thecamyeth and he goeth, thank god and if any body else has to get that upset to start calling us all kinds of names they should get the boot as well.

Man I can see calling one person a name because they are pissed at that person but to generalize and call all of us collectors(meaning to gather, and my meaning to gather as many as possible)hoarders, man what a joke.

I could understand his anger if the guy had bought those 5 Ice Sabers for eBay, but for his hobby?! He should be thanking us for "hoarding", because if more people did it, maybe Hasbro wouldn't have axed the line for that Sigma 6 crap.

it does't matter whether someone bought 5 for themselves or for ebay. buying multiples, especially an amount like 5, makes less product available for someone else to buy. that's a fact. that was his argument. unfortunately he was so crazed with anger he couldn't make it clearly or without name calling. but his argument was correct, none the less. even if it wasn't popular. I've said it before, don't blame the mirror for what you see in it. thecamyth merly held the mirror up.

and as I said in the other thread, it is actually better for the collector community who can't find them at retail if a scalper buys it. because if a scalper buys it at least a collector has a chance to buy it on ebay. but if another collector buys them they are going into his collection and the other collectors will not have a chance to get them. that is called hoarding. it isn't right or wrong, good or bad. it just is.

hoarding food during a state or emergency and people are starving is wrong. hoarding toys and adults not able to get and play with them. that's not a big deal. that's just silly. and more silly for an adult to actually complain rather than just go oh well.

why someone buys something is irrelevent, whether it is a scalper or collector. the affect is the same when a store is cleaned out before you get there: you can't find them. that is the problem. besides, by your own argument, a scalper buying all of them will have the same affect on sales as if a collector buys them. it isn't as if Hasbro says 20,000 Ice Sabres are sold, but those were to scalpers. now if those 20,000 were bought by collectors those would be good numbers, but since it was by scalpers ignore them.

doesn't make sense.

it does't matter whether someone bought 5 for themselves or for ebay. buying multiples, especially an amount like 5, makes less product available for someone else to buy.

If we're going to try and be "rational" now..all of a sudden...and try to make people feel guilty about their particular collecting habits, why not let go with the whole nine yards, and bring up how ANY of us "adults" buying these toys, is depriving some poor child somewhere, the opportunity to have it? They're MEANT to be played with by a "child" correct?

The adults are hoarding all the toys from the kids, even if we buy just one!

Now we have that RATIONALITY on our heads! <_<

that's a fact.  that was his argument.  unfortunately he was so crazed with anger he couldn't make it clearly or without name calling.  but his argument was correct, none the less. even if it wasn't popular.  I've said it before, don't blame the mirror for what you see in it.  thecamyth merly held the mirror up.

I guess the next time we want to tell somebody they're ugly (in our opinion) we just simply need to hold up a mirror and say..."HEY, don't blame me, I'm just showing you the mirror...YOU'RE UGLY!!"

Same argument isn't it? Anytime, someone does something we don't like, like buying too many toys or buying too many of the SAME toy, we can feel free to fire off a slanderous accusation of their mental weaknesses, because it's really just a fact we're wanting to make them face anyway...right?

I don't think his argument was correct at all, because army building has become a NATURAL part of collecting practice for some, in the G.I.Joe world. It's military based, and it even has the tagline "army builder" on the package. Vehicles are included in the phenomenon as well.

Having one of every item is another practice of collecting that some indulge in, but what about those who buy "extras" for customizing and painting? Those who keep one of everything MOC and another of everything loose?

Are we to let thecamyths accusation of our desire to have FUN with our hobby as being a "sickness" stand, as just the truth of the matter?

I don't think so!

and as I said in the other thread, it is actually better for the collector community who can't find them at retail if a scalper buys it.  because if a scalper buys it at least a collector has a chance to buy it on ebay.  but if another collector buys them they are going into his collection and the other collectors will not have a chance to get them.  that is called hoarding.  it isn't right or wrong, good or bad.  it just is.

Sounds more like a problem with the toy company not being able to manufacture enough toys for EVERYONE! You ever wonder if Hasbro insiders and workers within the company, don't manage these numbers someway, so that they ARE hard to find and rare, and they put aside, for themselves, these items they've deliberately made less of, so they can sell them on eBay later and make a quick $100 or more?

A scalper has NO limit whatsoever, and if something like the Ice Sabre can earn them an extra 80 bucks or more, you don't think they'll run out and clear EVERY store of EVERY Ice Sabre? Justifying this sh@# practice of scalping for a toy that's not even rare because it's 20 years old, but only because the scalper bought them all up, by saying at least a collector can still get it from them on ebay, just doesn't fly with me.

That's "hoarding" for the sake of profit and laziness. A collector wanting to have multiples of items for army building, display or customizing is all just part of the hobby and is done to satisfy ourselves with it. So many people buying so much of something, shouldn't be a problem anyway. That's what keeps'em in production...usually! <_<

why someone buys something is irrelevent, whether it is a scalper or collector.  the affect is the same when a store is cleaned out before you get there: you can't find them.  that is the problem.    besides, by your own argument, a scalper buying all of them will have the same affect on sales as if a collector buys them.  it isn't as if Hasbro says 20,000 Ice Sabres are sold, but those were to scalpers.  now if those 20,000 were bought by collectors those would be good numbers, but since it was by scalpers ignore them.

doesn't make sense.

If I want 5 Ice Sabres and buy them...I'm DONE! Requirements are met and I'm content! Whether I deprived somebody else the chance to have one AT ALL is questionable, likely not. A scalper certainly clears the shelves by buying them as well, but they don't fill a specific required amount. If there's 5 at EVERY store in town, they'll buy every single one of them and then sell them all for ridiculous prices after their buddy false bids on top of our bids to help jack it up!

Hasbro doesn't care who is buying these, you are correct on that, but Hasbro isn't on here calling people out for buying more than one, and using it to justify the practice of scalping, and rationalizing that army builders are "hoarding" so we're ALL rotten human beings for it.
