Has The Momentum For Reissues Gone

The problem is everyone who collects reissues now has money and the internet. So why wait for Hasbro if Takara's are just a click away. Also when Takara is viewed as better theres no need to wait for Hasbro's.

Well, whatever happened to Sideswipe? Was he ever released at TRU? @sad@

I do believe some are overpriced, but it's true. The first ones that Hasbro came out with where very applealing, now the rest of them are really not. Why do we have more autobots than decepticons? @eyerise@ I dont' understand in both, Hasbro & Takara. Whatever happens, if the rumor is true, about the TRF movie, then maybe we can expect Hasbro to make some more reissues. @rolleye@

Because Takara stuff is more expensive?

And why would Takara stuff be "better" than Hasbro stuff? Isn't the EXACT same stuff (disregarding minor cosmetics)?

takara's stuff is not THAT expensive.

TRU: 19.99

Takara: average 25-30 per reissue (depending on which reissue) but at least you get them all from them.

I don't think the momentum for reissues is gone at all. With Predaking out and Soundblaster and some cassettes coming, now's a good time to collect them.

The problem is slow-ass Hasbro, who's steadily going fro bad to worst. I am still waiting for Sideswipe to show up locally. First they charge $30 for TF's the size of $10 TF's but on average with as much die-cast in them as the average $1 Hot Wheels car, then they take forever getting them out.

well tak is going to start putting out more and more fastr and faster...they are in financial trouble....but as for hasbro imo i think they are done and we will never see sideswipe stateside or astrotrain

Whut do you mean sideswipe not available statewide, where is it available? I found on ebay an auction selling one, & he claims he had to buy them in Canada, is it true? @smilepunch@

Dam, Canada? @hmmm@ I keep my receipts too, but not in a spreadsheet, if I would do the math on all the trf's I have, Man, I would probably hate myself @firedevil@

I think a better title for this thread is "Has the momentum for reissues passed in North America?"

In that case, yes, I believe it has for all the reasons mentioned by others. I find most who buy reissues, prefer Takara for a couple reasons:

1. Takara provides not only more accurate reissues, but many products that Hasbro won't/can't touch (Soundwave, Megatron, Predaking)

2. On average, a Takara reissue doesn't cost all that more than the TRU's product. I spent $110 ($10 on shipping) on getting Collection 0 Prime ($70) and Takara Sideswipe ($30).

On the flip side, it costed me almost $75 to get Hasbro's Prowl and Jazz (back when they were full price). And now nearly the entire line is on clearance at stores and Amazon because they didn't move at $30

The fact Hasbro has not made any mention of new reissues leads me to think the line might well be done for the US, that or it will become a seasonal item for Christmas time.

Hasbro is being kind of quiet lately, & they haven't updated their website on TRF's.

If they do kill it, it wouldn't surprise me. It would be fine as long as Takara doesn't stop reissuing them.

Now that predaking is out, they need to do the rest of the gestalts. :)

Doesn't really matter to me right now, I have to catch up on some japanese reissues :P

Your forgetting the shipping cost which can be significant.

And don't give me the "cost in gas is equal" argument, because it isn't equal.

Sure Takara stuff is roughly 30% (or so) more expensive, but they DO have a lot of items Hasbro does not have (Hound, Ironhide, Ratchet, Predaking, Trailbreaker, Astrotrain, Blitzwing, the Insecticons).
