I Hate You, Amy Lee

Coming into today, I already disliked Amy Lee. I thought she was a whiney, preachy, egotistical fool. However, she did nothing to make me feel a sense of total disgust until today.

Today I heard her in an interview not only diss my favorite band Velvet Revolver and insult Slash personally, she also made nasty comments about "people who would listen to that stuff".

Sorry to rant here, but this is the only music-related forum I belong to.

I don't like her but I don't hate her either. She does have a good voice and all and I don't really like getting caught up in band/singers/celebs beef with each other. It doesn't really affect me as a listener. I like Velvet Revolver too, but in reality, not everyone does. So its all good.

My issue isn't with her not liking the band...to each their own.

My issue is with her assuming she knows what "type" of people listen to VR...or any band for that matter...and talking down about them as a group.

And a verbal attack on Slash was highly childish.

I think I read that interview before and she was saying that VR is just another pop band and doesn't know how to do an album...

Has anyone ever listen to her crap... Only reason why she thinks she is good cause she did 1 crappy song for the Spider-Man movie...

I found the interview where she says VR is boring cause they only have 1 good song... Screw her and her crappy band...

EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee recently spoke to Kerrang! magazine about her band's massive success and the possibility of a solo career at some point down the line. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

Kerrang!: Have you become cynical about your peers?

Amy Lee: "No way, but theres just so many new bands out there and I'm not motivated to see a single damn one, and a lot of the bands worth listening to are old and tired now. VELVET REVOLVER...I haven't seen them play live yet but that album really bores me! Maybe there's one song that's cool, but to me it's just not worth building a supergroup around."

Kerrang!: They've got Slash in it.

Amy Lee: "Yeah, but great celebrities don't make a great band. I don't hate them, but the music just isn't that great."

Kerrang!: Has the industry changed?

Amy Lee: "Definitely. Theres been a lull in the rock industry and the labels are pouring all their money in to rap and hip-hop. At the American VMA's [MTV Video Music Awards] we felt really disrespected and looked over and ignored. You invite us to an award show because youve nominated us and you don't even want to interview me because you're too busy with Beyonce and Usher? It's like, 'Why did i go to the trouble?' We were 20 rows in the back!"

Kerrang!: Is that just a sign of the times?

Amy Lee: "Maybe, but it'll come back around. Every kind of music always has its day, and right now it's rap and hip-hop and that's great. But that's just not what I'm into and obviously it's not my band's scene. I'm just glad the new album hasn't come out this year."

Kerrang!: How is it writing without EVANESCENCE's co-founder [ben Moody]?

Amy Lee: "I definitely feel like I have something to prove, so there's pressure. Thats okay, though, because I know the truth: that it isn't the case that Ben was the brains behind the operation who let me be the singer. Some people think that and it bothers me, but there's nothing I can say to change people's minds so I'll let the album do that."

Kerrang!: Are your current bandmates equally expendable?

Amy Lee: "It's the opposite. The people in the band came in after the majority of the work on the first album was done, but when Ben left, we had a meeting and we all agreed they should be a part of it — not just session players. That's made it really exciting, because this is a real opportunity for them to make it their own. You love your band so much more when it's your music."

I liked Effernecsecne up until she opened up her big mouth and said this about one of my fav bands Cold:

courtesy of Blabbermouth:

EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee has confirmed to Australia's Undercover News that COLD guitarist Terry Balsamo is now a permanent member of EVANESCENCE.

According to Lee, that also means COLD is history. "They could hire another guitar player and continue, but I'm pretty sure that their lead singer is in and out of rehab and having real problems," she told Undercover News. "He has been for a long time and I don't think they're going to be making another record. Terry was in a situation also where their band was very unhappy, so I think we came together on a common ground."

Asked if Terry's appointment has created sore feelings with the rest of the COLD members, Amy told Undercover News, "I haven't talked to them. We all went on tour together in the States, which is funny, that's how we met. Scooter, the lead singer, was really hurting, it was not good, but the rest of the guys in the band are really awesome. I love Jeremy and Kelly's really cool and I was friends with both of those guys. I didn't know the drummer very well, but I don't think there is any sore feelings, I think they were all pretty sick of the situation in their band."

Stupid B*tch she then makes a lame attempt to apologize to Cold after Scooter fended off her stupid remarks:

Lee said, "Dear COLD fans, I'm sure the last thing you want to hear right now is more of me running my mouth, so I'm going to make this short and simple. It was not my place to make any statements about the status of COLD — COLD is not my band. I apologize. I've never claimed to be perfect and I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong. To the band: Sorry guys, I didn't mean to hurt anything for you. I'm new at this and I still sometimes forget that the world is listening." In a separate posting to the EVANESCENCE forum EvBoard.com, Lee wrote, "In an interview recently I spoke out of turn about the status of COLD. I just wanted to say that really sucked of me. I didn't realize that COLD hadn't made any statements about the future of their band and we don't really know anyway. COLD's fans hate me now. My bad. If you're a COLD fan, I left an official apology at the COLD website. Sometimes you forget you have a microphone in your hand."

For her to openly state and accuse another band for being in and out of rehab without knowing anything about the band or the persons involved is a low blow. She states sometimes you forget that you have a microphone in hand, but now all I want to do is take it away from her so I don't have to hear her stupidity anymore.

Since then I can care less of what this band does.

The reason why I don't like her is because she shows no respect to bands or musicians who have come from huge rock bands and have paid their dues to get where they are now and she bad mouths them...

Going back to what she says about Slash...

Her comments of VR being boring is the same as if she said Slash in GNR was just another guitar player... Screw her!

I never liked Evanescence. Even when everyone else swore how great they were I never liked them. I thought she had a good voice but I didn't care for the music.

Velvet Revolver rocks so much harder than Evanescence.

Shut your stupid pie-hole biyatch! Bow to the greatness that is Velvet Revolver!

I try not to let my favorite musicians' comments and personal beliefs influence my opinion. I like Amy Lee, I like Velvet Revolver, and I especially like Slash, but imo, who cares? Nate if you care about this sort of thing so much why do you like Axl Rose? He's one of the biggest jerks in the buisness (according to the media) yet I still admire him greatly.

Dude, nice Soundgarden sig.

She should show a little more respect towards Slash. This guy was out touring the world with one of the biggest bands of the 80's while she was still in grade school.

She's in one of those 'new bands' that she professes to hate.

And, she's ugly. Nyah! :P

I really don't think any of this is worth getting all bent out of shape over. Everyones allowed to have an opinion, even famous rock stars.

So her attitude kinda sucks, whats so new about that in music world? It doesn't change the fact that she is a great singer and as long as the songs are good thats all that should matter.

I like VR but personally I'd take the classic STP music over them anyday. I'm ok with Slash but I was never a GNR fan, I never could and never will be able to stand Axl @onthecan@ Rose.

Yeah, and about the time she walked in the back door, set down beside ya at the computer, and started fiddling with your pee pee's....you'd all be praising her astute observations of current rock musicians! @lol@

@loll@ So true.

I like Amy Lee and I like VR. But I don't hold anyone's comments against them. We are all aloud a opinion and she voiced that, plain and simple.

Yuck...some of you actually find that man-beast attractive?

OS I think there is more to that interview, or else the DJ who read it on the radio elaborated a bit.

Venal, Axl may have been a headcase, but I think in his own twisted way he DOES care about his fans

Agreed. The guitarists she has working for her are poser hacks in comparison to Slash. There's just no comparing the level of talent between the two.

Come on guys, quit dissing on my girl Amy Lee, she has the right to say what ever she wants about whoever she wants. As a matter of fact we all do, it's called 'Freedom of Speech'. So give the girl a break.

Where the heck is NMX? Back me up here man.

I've been watching, should the thread go too far...

But the thing about freedom of speech: that door swings both ways.

This is fair game - I don't have to like it. Just behave yourselves.
