What Do You Think Of The Helmets

Damn right!

I loved the fact that almost all the original '82 Joes had helmets, then it seemed to get less and less common.

It's great that more Cobras are getting them, but what about the Joes? I was pretty disappointed that Zap didn't get one (in the comic pack, I mean).

I dont mind them if they look okay, but not if they look goofy like the CG ones...

By the way, Mike, what'd you do with all those WM exclusive Duke and roadblocks from those pics in your sig????? @poke2@ looking to get rid of them, or any other figs for my fodder box??? :D

Hey bud...PM me and let me know what you need! I have sold some but most are sitting in a bin in my closet. I also have several figs that I may want to get rid of...some VvV and lots of loose RAH.

I HATE the CG helmet but the RazorClaw and Snow Wolf's are miles ahead better. So I expect a JvC Crimson Guard if they gave him a removable helmet would be miles better than the RAH one.

Is the new CG helmet that bad? It looks great in pictures.

Yes. Its warped and lost a lot of detail from the original head.

I like the CG helmets, it beings more character to the figure IMO. I also like the new head on Razor Claw, I was chatting with Eagle101st and mentioned to him that Razor Claw's head would make a good head for the CG. I am going to do that and make him the leader of the team.

Helmets can be a hit or miss; sometimes it's good, others times, no. Some of the best figures didn't have removeable helmets, and might not have been so otherwise. In the end, it's Hasbro's efforts and attention to detail that can make or break such a feature as removeable helmets.

The Cobras with non-removable helmets didn't bother me so much, as it preserved a sense of anonymity.

But the Joes... man that pissed me off. Except for Snake Eyes, they all should have had removable helmets. The Barbeque figure especially annoyed me.

That's my point right there. Would Hit & Run have been a better figure with a removeable helmet? Personally, I don't think so. Removeable helmets sometimes add too much bulk to a figure's head, even though it may seem unrealistic. A figure can sometimes look better with a sculpted on helmet.

I think the only time helmets are really neccessary are for figures with specialities that limit them from operating in other environments, like going from air-to-land or sea-to-land. For example, paratroopers, divers, and pilots should have removeable helmets.

Otherwise, I'd rather see figures get attachments to their helmets like optical or comm gear.

Dont listen to them, its fine. I got several faces and I have no real problems with it. Though the only one who should be the judge of that is you. Just get a hold of a Faces or the Crimson Sabotage set. All fine additions to my collection.

As for Zap, I have the new one wearing a boonie hat from Crossfire and holding Dusty's RPG with the tab clipped off.

And for that matter the Grunt from the same 3-pack is wearing a Sandviper helmet. Not a perfect fit but the colors match. He also has Duke's new multi-part rifle. Something that cool is too good th be wasted on a mere JvC. One thing I havent tried yet is putting his JvC Spy Troops gear. Maybe it might make a slightly more convincing CLAWs disguise, like some off-battlefield specialist or something.

And Grunt's ST helmet put on a red CLAWs figure helps make the figure look better proportioned.

That about sums up exactly what I was thinking on the issue.

I like the concept when it works or looks cool, and I don't like it so much, when it doesn't! ^_^

The CG helmets are so so! Having the face plate like they do, it just doesn't work as well, as what others might be able to. The original Joes had round, unshaped heads (for the most part) and the helmets all fit over them nicely, and then an attachable visor could be added, and then Bazookas head was HUGE and his helmet on made his head even...HUGER! @lol@

Like you say 8speed..it's "hit or miss" but I DO like the idea of it, and would hate to see it dropped completely.

The only figure that came with a Helmet I use is the 85' Gen. Hawk. Of course, the only other helmeted figures I have are the Spy troops Duke and Grunt that came with the Battel Blitzs and those were just dumb looking. If the helmets look good, then this will be good. But if they end up looking more like Spy Troops Duke's helmet, then i'll be glad they're removable.
