Custom Energon Soundwave

After seeing the Transtopia Soundwave, I decided to do one, but I don't like to paint (because I can't!). I'm not finished with the head because I think the original Soundwave head is a little small. I'm also not sure about using Ironhide's sound and light backpack thing or not. What do you guys think - with or without?

Well, here's the considerations. To really make it stand out from Ironhide, taking off the electronics rack is a good idea. What does that do to the alt mode though? Also, I think I prefer the head position w/ the rack on, since it sits up a little higher and that looks more natural compared to his shoulders. So really, I think it's just a matter of personal preference since it could work well either way. In any case, great work man!

Thanks. I've actually removed the back part of the rack from Ironhide a long time ago - even before I was inspired to do this custom.

 

If I go without the rack, I'm going to use a bigger head so it won't look so funny. Hopefully, I'll get it in the mail today.

 

I'm not sure what to do with the alt mode because I've always hated the non-hidden head. I may just remove it when I transform him, but I'm not sure yet.

That's really cool, man. I wouldn't use a bigger head (where are you getting one, anyway?) - I think it looks fine. The backpack is no good, like you said, and I think the weapons should be different. Maybe more like the originals...

I bought a junker G1 Soundwave from eBay to use the head.

 

I'm getting a MyClone Soundwave (today I hope) to see if it would work.

 

I really can't customize very well, so I'm kind of limited in what I can use for weapons. Any suggestions?

 

I'm also not sure what to do with the head in his alt mode. I may just leave it (like E-Ironhide) or pop it off (again, like E-Ironhide), if I can't find a good way to hide it.

I kinda like the rack on your custom Soundwave. It kinda looks like speakers.

Here's some vehicle mode pics. I haven't finished the head so I left it off when I took the photos. I think I'm going to leave the light/sound rig and then hide the head by turing it around in vehicle mode. That's probably the best my limited customizing skills can handle.

 

 

For those of you concerned about G1 Soundwave, this is the junker I parted out.

Great work! I think the G1 head looks great without the backpack. The MyClone head my be too cartoony for you.

I say lose the back pack, but keep the original Soundwave head, it's the perfect size.

 

It does look a bit low though, so if I was you I'd add a ball joint to it to raise it up a little and give it a larger range of motion
