From Fanball.com:

Dave Wannstedt has reportedly resigned as head coach of the Dolphins. Reports from WSVN Channel 7 in Miami indicate that Wannstedt handed in his resignation tonight. After Sunday's last-second loss to the Cardinals, Wannstedt told the Sun-Sentinel, "I am so worn out right now, to be honest with you. Just drained from the game, and putting everything we had into the game. It's never been as hard to win a game." No interim coach has been named.

I feel kinda bad for the guy actually....I know that last year, a lot of people wanted him fired despite a 10-6 record but you can't really blame him for the Dolphins' failures this season....

No Ricky, Poor offense, and the only thing that's good is their D, but they can't win if they're constantly on the field because of the poor excuse for an offense this team has.

Well, let's hope the next regime can bring in a good QB and a better RB because Chambers needs someone to get him the ball

I just like the fact that Dan Marino called the Dolphins situation as "embarrassing", yet he was the guy who took a front office job with Miami and quit a few weeks into his job. It could be argued that he's no different than Wannstedt or Williams.

Dan quit because he was going to have no real power and was only there as a figurehead. 3 weeks into his office and Wayne Huizenga couldn't tell him what he would be able to do and not do at his position. Instead of staying on to be a figurehead he opted to go back to his broadcasting jobs with CBS and HBO. He also realized the stress it would put on his family as he and Claire had just recently adopted another child, not leaving his position would have infringed on his time as a father to his children. I do think now that Wanny is gone Dan will at some point join the team in a management position, and help with personell and players.

Also there is a FREAKING HUGE DIFFERENCE in the timing of Dan's resignation, and Ricky's "I quit to smoke pot and walk the earth like Caine from Kung Fu" routine. Dan resigned about a month into his stay in February and for the reasons that I have stated above. Ricky just quit less than a week before training camp!!!! Leaving no time to draft a suitable replacement, or aqcuire one through free agency or trades. We were left with backup running backs to carry the entire load, with a shoddy offensive line full of scrubs that Wanny and Spielman put together.

This season would have been a disaster with or without Dan being a figurehead, because our offense was Ricky and he turned out to be a ganja toking, cry baby. The things that I can take joy in being a long time Phin fan is that this is only our 6th losing season in team history, Wanny is gone with Spielman soon to follow, Spurrier said he doesn't want to coach in the NFL again, and we will have a top 5 draft pick.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm a Browns fan and actually HOPING that the Bengals beat their ass (the Browns) this weekend, so Butch Davis gets the axe, and then maybe....MAYBE, Wannstedt gets a look to, for his replacement! :)

I like Wannstedt!
