There was a series inbetween the 12 inchers and the RAH. Action man... and he was 8". SO the Joes gradually shrank. And it might be cool to mention Gi joe Extreme in the 90's

Here's a pretty good link with an article written this fall to commemorate the 40th anniversary of GI Joe.

It gives a lot of major points, and should be a good starting point. As for your outline, here's a few interesting points I can think of off the top of my head:

1. Birth of a Hero

- left thumbnail is on the bottom of the thumb to make the figure unique enough to trademark, since there is no way to get a patent on the human form

- same goes for the facial scar

2. ARAH

- o-ring design was first used by Microman figures in Japan

- Hasbro employee Ron Rudat was "honored" with Dusty's file name appearing as Ronald Tadur (Rudat backwards). Tunnel Rat was also sculpted to resemble Larry Hama, the man who wrote all of the original comics and filecard biographies.

3. Rebirth

- as a point of interest, GI Joe #1 from Devil's Due was released on September 12, 2001.

Good luck!

9" he was called "super joe" interesting note he was complete crap!

becuse of the oil shortage gijoe became too expensive to produce because of the fact they used some sort of petroleum biproduct to make plastic, so first they shrank gijoe into super joe cause he used less plastic , then everyone saw what a super turd he was, ie sales were bad. bam! the line is cancelled or something like that?????

the end

cool is an awful strong word when mentioned with gijoe extreme! dont ya think?? but i see your point of how the more things change the more they stay the same!! ;)
