TNA Impact and Xplosion tapings from Tuesday November 2, 2004

The rumor of the day was the appearance of recently terminated WWE star Billy Gunn during the pre-show run through. The fans waiting in the VIP line saw Mark Mero walking around backstage who Jimmy Hart said would be involved in the shows. Jeremy Borash told the fans that Xplosion would be a Victory Road preview show instead of the normal event you see on Sunshine Network but this match would be airing on Xplosion.

(1) Shark Boy, D-Ray 3000 & Sonjay Dutt defeated Michael Shane (w/Traci Brooks), Alex Shelley & Kid Kash (w/Dallas). D-Ray and company had total control until D-Ray went off the ropes where Traci and Dallas attacked him. D-Ray survived an onslaught and made the tag to Dutt and Shark Boy (I’m not kidding) who cleared the ring.Dutt victory rolled Shelley for the win. After the bout it appeared that Shelley had some words for Dallas. Kash stole a sign from a fan that said “Kid Deserves More Kash.

TNA Impact! Matches:

This week began with the pre-show video recapping last week’s Dusty Rhodes in ring speech plus this week’s main event tag team match.

(1) Johnny B. Badd defeated Vito Thomaselli (Borash didn’t announce him to the live crowd but some people said that was his name.) A few weeks back Badd was a heel in a Monster’s radio angle, this week the crowd loved him as he finished his opponent off quickly.

Jeff Jarrett and Shane Douglas went to the production truck, Jarrett told them to play it when he got to the ring. After the commercials a video played hyping Roddy Piper’s appearance at Victory Road. Mike Tenay ran down the PPV card as he waited in the ring for the current NWA World Heavyweight champion (and his ladder) to make his way to the ring to the normal resounding chorus of boos. Jarrett claimed Hardy was not in the building and might not make it to the PPV. He said the “enigma made a wrong turn last night by landing on Planet Jarrett. A video played of Petey Williams and Jarrett in a hotel jumping Hardy in his room and beating him down. Back in the ring Jarrett told the board they needed a new opponent for the PPV and called out Kevin Nash. Dusty Rhodes came out to the usual applause. Rhodes said Jarrett had some problems. He said Monday morning he would be in charge of TNA and Jarrett would have no title around his waist. As Jarrett was distracted by Rhodes, Jeff Hardy came out and attacked Jarrett. His attack was short lived as Petey Williams and Scott D’amore attacked him as he was climbing Jarrett’s ladder, they then tossed him off the ladder and Hardy landed on the floor along with the outside guard rails.

Shane Douglas spoke to Chris Sabin about winning the #20 spot in the X Division gauntlet. Sabin felt he would rather be #1. Douglas said tonight’s four corner match between Matt Sydal, Frankie Kazarian, Amazing Red and a mystery guest. The loser of this match would be the number 1 in the gauntlet. They came back to the ring to see Hardy being helped to the back by TNA officials and paramedics. Out of the commercial Tenay and West talked as they replayed Jarrett attacking Hardy as he lie on the stretcher. Next they replayed footage of last week’s encounters between Monty Brown, Raven, Abyss and the mystery voice (AKA Father James Mitchell.)

(2) Abyss (carrying a black satchel) defeated another kid Borash didn’t announce to the fans and it didn’t matter as a Black Hole Slam ended the match before it started. As the match ended Monty Brown made his way to the ring. But before any physical contact occurred, Abyss finally opened the satchel as it contained THUMB TACKS!! As the referees restrained Brown, Raven appeared on the video wall with more of his famous poetry. After the video played Brown and Abyss had a face to face.

The commercial break was ended by Shane Douglas interviewing America’s Most Wanted about the upcoming match. Chris Harris said the XXX winning streak would be coming to an end on Sunday.

(3) “Cowboy James Storm defeated “Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels in a preview of Sunday’s match. The fight went to the floor and back to the ring before Rudy Charles could ring the bell. Elix Skipper distracted Storm as Daniels set for the Angel’s Wings but Storm hit a superkick. Skipper ran in and caused the DQ. Chris Harris ran in with a chair which made XXX split. The Naturals came out and distracted Harris long enough for XXX to attack from behind and take out Storm’s knee. As the NWA World Tag Team champions Team Canada watched from the safety of the rampway, The Naturals handcuffed Harris to the ropes as XXX kept the beating going. Daniels grabbed the house mic and yelled to Harris that “they couldn’t win the last team standing match and XXX would standing over their beaten bodies.

Out of commercial they played a video hyping the 20 man X Division gauntlet match at Victory Road.

(4) Spanky (yes Brian Kendrick) defeated Frankie Kazarian (w/Michael Shane and Traci Brooks), Matt Sydal, Amazing Red in a four corners match where the loser of the fall would get #1 in the X division gauntlet. Trinity came out once again to #$## about not being including in the gauntlet or the PPV. It was over fast as the end saw Spanky pin Frankie Kazarian. Vince Russo came out and told Trinity he had a match in mind for her at Victory Road. Borash asked Russo who the new partner for Styles would be in the main event and Russo’s answer surprised Borash.

Once again they played the Scott Hall/Kevin Nash videos hyping their appearance at Victory Road this Sunday.

(5) AJ Styles and Ron “the Truth Killings defeated NWA World X Division champion Petey Williams and NWA World Heavyweight champion Jeff Jarrett. Killings took the place of the injured Hardy. Pretty cool to see three current & former NWA World champions in the same match. I think there will be a commercial break during this match. Styles/Killings had control until Williams grabbed Styles’ foot during a springboard move causing Styles to hit the mat face first. Jarrett and Williams seemed to have fun beating on Styles. Styles finally got some distance from his opponents and tagged in Killings who escaped the Canadian Destroyer but he couldn’t avoid Jarrett and a shot to the head from the world title belt. Jarrett had the pin on Killings but Styles pulled Rudy Charles to the floor. During the commotion Jeff Hardy came from the crowd, hit Jarrett with the Twist of Fate and a Swanton to pin Jarrett.

The show went off with a video package running down the Victory Road card along which ended with Tom Arnold telling the fans to watch the PPV. Borash told the fans that the following would be at Saturday’s 1-5pm Q & A sessions as well as autographs: Mike Tenay, Don West, the Naturals, Team Canada, AJ Styles, BG James, Spanky, AMW, 3 Live Kru, XXX, Kid Kash, Shark Boy

The TV cameras were turned off as fans got to see Raven vs. Monty Brown vs. Abyss in a preview of Sunday’s Monsters Ball match on PPV. Before the match Raven badmouthed Abyss and Brown. Not a surprise the fighting went all over the ringside area and actually spent some time in the ring as well. All three men had offense in the match but Brown ended up hitting both men with the POUNCE and then for no actual reason the match was thrown out by referee Andrew Thomas.

The fans demanded one more match and SHOCKINGLY got one more match featuring Chris Sabin, Chris Harris and 3Live Kru members Konnan and BG James defeating the New York Connection (Johnny Swinger & Glenn Gilberti w/Trinity) and the Naturals. The match was entertaining and it ended as BG James hit Gilberti with a pump handle slam. After the bout 3LK did their usual spiel.
