What's Meh mean? I've only been visiting message boards for about a year now, and I see this over and over, is it short for something?

it sounds like that sound people make when shrugging something off:

"dude, you want another beer"?

"eeehh" *shrugs shoulders* "sure one more wont hurt".

Yeah, I think that's exactly what it means. I've heard it quite a bit in real life, actually - I don't think you can really say it's just an internet thing.

I remember distinctly too, becasue some old friends of mine in Cookeville we used to live 2 doors down from, one time they rented a movie and we asked them how it was and they both sounded off at the same time "meh", meaning it wasnt that great (too bad I dont recall which movie it was lol)

I first heard it on The Simpsons. Homer asks Bart and Lisa about something, they reply "meh". Homer questions the phrase, and Lisa says "m-e-h, meh".

 

I tried to find the episode and get the direct quote, but I couldn't remember which one it was.

Yeah I heard it in real life before seeing it on the internet too. I don't think it's an internet term - it's just short and easy to write, so you see it online quite a bit.
