What Was Your Golden Age Of Collecting???

Besides following Marvel's Star Wars, G. I. Joe, Transformers, and a bunch of old DC books I got from my grandfather, I really got into comics in '86+; Marvel Tales, Classic X-Men, Mutant Massacre, Marvels 25th anniversary). I'd probably have to go with the late '80's/early '90's also. Beyond all of the polybagged, silver holo #1 covers, it was McFarlane's Spidey and Jim Lee's X-Men. (and Alex Ross, Keown's Hulk, Silvestri, Textiera, etc..) This was when I really began to follow specfific artists.

I got into comics around '83. But, as I've gotten older, I've been getting alot more of the DC Archives and Marvel Masterworks. These were comics that were made before I was born and they STILL hold my interest. Campy? Yeah, but a fun read. Hell, the stories even had more WORDS to read, so it wasn't the artist that carried the storyline.

For me, it was around '89-'92. I enjoyed Marc Silvestri and Jim Lee's runs with Clairemont on Uncanny X-Men. Also, the years when Amazing Spiderman was done by McFarlane and Dave Michelenie.

Yup. Same here.

The Transmetropolitan/Preacher years at DC/Vertigo would be a big favorite.

Alternately, the New X-Men/ALIAS years at Marvel.

(There's a fair overlap between the several titles above, so we'll just call it all one big group.)

Lately, would be my new golden "indie" years, with Queen & Country and Brian Wood's stuff.

Looking back to childhood, though... I'd likely go with McFarlane's Amazing Spider-Man/Spider-Man years.

Or my original golden "indie"years, with books like Sin City and Optic Nerve.
