Body Count D-roc Passes Away

I'm not sure if any of you are/were into Body Count but I was sad to find out today that their rhythm guitarist D-Roc passed away of cancer :(

I've been a longtime fan of Body Count and to hear this saddens me. D-Roc and Ernie C had some of the slickest Riffs and there will be no other metal riff intro ever like "There Goes the Neighborhood".

RIP D-Roc

According to Blabbermouth.net

BODY COUNT guitarist D-Roc (real name Dennis Miles) passed away Tuesday morning (August 17) at the City of Hope Cancer Center in Duarte, California after a battle with mycosis fungoides, which attacks the lymph nodes and the skin. The band will reportedly go ahead with their previously announced appearances in Boston and New York with substitute guitarist Bendrix Williams (MACY GRAY, PITCH BLACK).

BODY COUNT, the metal/punk band fronted by legendary rapper Ice T, recently announced plans to record their first album in seven years, tentatively titled "Murder for Hire".

The group, whose previous drummer Beatmaster V died of leukemia and bassist Mooseman was killed in a drive-by shooting in South Central Los Angeles, had been inactive for several years following the release of 1997's "Violent Demise: Last Days".

BODY COUNT were the focus of national media attention with their controversial song "Cop Killer", which was included on the group's self-titled debut in 1991.

Still can't believe it. When I played locally in my band, I always played with a hockey mask just like D-Roc did. I'm still shocked.

I don't think any other group could mix rap with metal nearly as well as Body Count.

Actually Body Count never "rapped" in any of their discs with a few exceptions on Violent Demise where they had guest spots by Raw Breed. They only got the "rap" thing cause of Ice-T. Other than that. "These f**kin' N***as played their rock Gee-Tar, There goes tha neighborhood"

Who ever labels BC as just another rap metal band needs to get their ear checked. Would a Rap-Metal band play at HellFest? Would a rap-metal band play alongside bands like Suffocation, Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under? I don't think so. Body Count is and still a METAL band.

After hearing bout D-Rocs passing it made me even more mad that I skipped out when Body Count headlined the second night of the Minneapolis HellFestival about a month or two back. @grumpy@

Oh well, REST EASY D-ROC.

Whoa, calm down! I never said BC was just another rap/metal group! I just meant that they had elements of rap in their music, even though they were a metal group. I have heard a lot of BC's music in the past (not just the song "Cop Killer" either), and I thought it was pretty good. Made me appreciate metal more. But I've never been a huge metal fan, so I passed on their albums.

I realize they were a metal group and have listened to them. So Cha, if you thought I was just another ignorant rap fan, chill out! @loll@

Was aiming at you there PMP (sorry if I made it sound that way). I know a lot of "kids" who think BC are just another RapMetal band just because of Ice-T.

Not singling you out there. ;)
