wow -- those look really good. I like your night force airtight. He's one of my favorites.

The skidmark figures is a vast improvement over the original.

Hey I was reading your review of the original Destro figure and you say, "my only complaint would be the orange-ish under shirts he's got on". Destro isn't wearing a shirt. That is supposed to be his chest.

hehe, if thats his chest, then i got a problem with his chest being orange. i never got the impression that was his chest tho.

Excellent, as always.

I saw a debate on one of the other Joe boards as to why the Oktober Guard were never made, and someone brought up the point that making Russian "enemies" during the Cold War might be too "controversial." As silly as something like that might sound to us now, I really wouldn't be surprised if that's one reason why Hasbro never did it. Also, we have to remember that the comic (as far as I recall) was the only Joe media the Guard ever appeared in. Limited visibility for six characters that might get made into figures--that's a pretty big risk considering the cost of making just one figure, let alone the whole team. Still, I guess they could've done a decent LBC job to make them. I betting it's a combination of things, really.

As usual, I'd love to hear the real story as to why we never got a decent version of the Guard until now. They were always some of my favorites from the comic, too.

Also, great job with that six color, chocolate chip uniform on Leatherneck and Skidmark. It really does justice to those molds.

TM, that really was an anomoly as far as GI Joe was concerned... alot of times, the GI Joes would work WITH the Oktober Guard instead of AGAINST them. Also, they appeared in the cartoon a few times... one of the most memorable (for me, anyway) was when they protected the tomb of Ivan the Terrible from an army of BATs.

This was a departure from most 80s characterization of Soviets as robot-like, fanatically socialist pride-mongers who want to smash the west.
