Restoring The Original Krang's Android Body

Many years ago, I despretely wanted a X-Men Sentinel figure, so I attempted to (poorly) paint the body of the original TMNT Krang's Android body a bizarre combination of browns and purples. Back then, I thought I was pretty smart, but looking back now I kick myself for ruining such an awesome figure.

 

The paint I used was simple acrylic paint used for woodcrafts, and I simply painted over the original paintjob. Through the years, the acrylic paint has chipped in places and you can plainly see the factory paintjob, so I was wondering, is there an easy way to remove the layer of paint I applied on and restore the original paintjob as much as possible?

If it's simple acrylic craft paints, just use hot water and the rough side of a sponge.

 

And whenver you decide to go back and repaint it, use primer before painting and sealer afterwards.
