Hasbro Q&a

Web site Q & A for the week of June 7th

Q: Are the TRANSFORMERS ALTERNATORS figures meant to be the actual G1 characters rebuilt in new forms or are they just characters with the same names and similar appearances. Takara’s story for their Binaltech line seems to link the new figures directly to their old namesakes, yet the connection is unclear for US fans. How exactly is this line connected to G1?

A: ALTERNATORS is a product line meant to appeal to G1 fans as well as today’s kids. We leave it up to the fans to make the parallels to G1; but we are working on ways to bring a story to light in the US.

this isn't very informative @grumpy@ but it's somethin' I guess! ;)

Ok my version for alts is that they all died in there original forms by unicron & megatron but then the minicons brought them back to life in an upgraded form using there minicon powers & the power of the matrix!

... oh wait a sec!

My question to Hasbro is -- Was this really the most pressing question that everybody wants to know about? Or, was this the only question they wanted to answer with a real answer instead of thier most common answer to most questions which is: "We currently have no plans for this at this time..."

I was just thinking what if Dreamwave did a comic on it. Binaltech story isnt that bad. And Im sure DW could do some really killer stuff with adding characters and such. Depending on what Licenses Takara got, they could do some cool stuff even if the line isnt complete.

Good Q&A maybe now people will stop complaining about Alts. not being 100% G1 acc as clearly they are merely G1 influenced, not a continuation

Well, they said it is up to the fans so it could be influenced or a continuation.

To tell you the truth, I find the answer bs. It is just something they put some fans not bothering them. Companies usually say they are looking into a storyline or currently have no plans, which may mean the same thing. These types of answers are used to get the fanboys off their backs. I also agree with Grondeur with why they answer this question since it is so trivial; I see the alternator line just simply a line for collectors and since it is for them, a story isn't neccesary. Binaltech is different, I guess.

I prefer the japanese storyline and also collect the binaltech line.
