Aaargh! Lost Out On A Terror Drome!

I lost out bidding on a complete Terror Drome (including Firebat and A.V.A.C) by $1 and 3 seconds!

I was taking a big risk spending that much money on ANYTHING off Ebay, so I guess it's just as well. But if eagle101st is right, that just sucks.

Heh, it isn't the spending, its the HAVING the money TO spend!

 

But I've gotten some pretty good deals already, so I can't complain, so maybe I'll be able to snag a Drome later on.

Damn...that was a good deal. It's alright though, with enough patience you may find another. I have missed out on many deals too, but at the same time there are other deals that come around to quench the collecting thirst. Good luck!!!

Man that bites! That's why I prefer BIN's but sadly the one thing you want isn't always in a BIN auction.

 

Just stay persistent and the next time you might get lucky and get it for less than what you got sniped for.

Technically...you didn't miss out by a dollar.You could have missed out by several dollars depending on what the highest bidder placed as his high bid.So even if you bid a dollar higher than he did...he could still win the auction as long as you don't bid higher than his highest bid (which...for example,let's say was $90).But usually the highest bid increment appears a dollar higher (or whatever the increase is) than the 'second place' guy's highest bid.Not sure if you knew that or not...

 

I usually have a habit of watching items I really want until the last few minutes (and bidding too) to insure that I win.Looks like this guy was a little quicker on the draw...sorry to hear out on that.The Terrordrome is indeed one of the Joe Holy Grails and I'm glad I managed to nab one for cheap as well ($50) when I had the chance.Good luck finding another!

Technically, yeah, they could have bid $100 and I still would have lost. But it was the fact they got that bid in with 3 seconds to spare that drove me nuts. THAT was how close I was.

Yeah, don't worry. I got mine off ebay for $45. It is missing like 8 parts, but the FB was there, just missing one missle. So I am sure you will be able to find one soon. The trick is to find one for sale from someone who does not know what it goes for. They put REALLY low BIN on them, and if you are lucky, you can scoop one up! Good luck, man!!!

when I bid on large ticket items like that I figure out my max bid and then add on another 5 to 10 bucks so that if I do lose out, then it's at least by 5 to 10 bucks more than what I would really want to spend anyway. If I when, but have to spend 5 to 10 bucks more... oh well.

Yes,it included the Firebat and AVAC...however...

 

The Firebat I think is missing a pair of missiles,but other than that is in pristine condition.

 

AVAC wasn't so lucky,in fact...he was chewed up by a dog.

 

The 'Drome still needs some new parts,but it's nothing we can't get for cheap.It needs a door of the top silo,and I'd like to replace one or two of the fuel stations because of broken pegs.

 

What happened is that my brother and I saw a Terrordrome on eBay...and he just happened to live 15 minutes away from us (we saw via location)...so we e-mailed him.This guy was selling his old Joe collection cause he was going to move out of his parents' house with his pregnant wife and wanted to help clean things up.

 

Not only did we see his Terrordrome,but he had a lot.Unfortunately most of it was loose,some figures were mutilated and broken,same with the vehicles,but some were complete and in good shape.We worked out a $70 deal with the guy that included the Terrordrome (w/ Firebat and chewed-up AVAC),a STUN (no decals or Motor Viper,but everything was on it),a complete Viper '86,complete Serpentor and Air Chariot,Skyhawk (missing one 'wing'),Beach Head (w/ broken crotch),and a few other misc. figures (some of which are just parts) and loads of accessories.
