The Megatron reissue is just like the original Japanese Megatron, which includes a sword and little plastic pellets. Its well worth it. I paid too much for mine... @screamer@

Just like the original Japanese Megatron, except that it has chromed parts, an energy mace, the stock, silencer and scope.

The original Megatron was grey unchromed plastic, without the additional gun parts (or any means of attaching them, so dont bother getting them seperately).

But yes, the reissue has as much diecast as the original, which you'll realise the second you pick him up :)

@loll@ @loll@ Hm, since you are getting #6, you are getting more than what had been listed above like Decepticon Mousepad, Decepticons stickers, and more.

My Cybetronian book had Megatron in Chrome, are you sure the original doesn't have chrome?

Hasbro = Chrome, with scope, stock and silencer (red inner thighs)

Takara = No chrome, no scope, but with bullets and a sword (blue inner thighs)

Takara "Goodbye Megatron" however, did come with the scope, but still no chrome, and still no stock or silencer (poor little japanese children)

The Takara "16 SPECIAL" reissue came with stock, silencer and scope, and chrome, and bullets, and sword (more of a reissue of the Walther P38 UNCLE, than of Megatron).

Takara DW #6 reissue came with all that and an energy mace, mousemat, a sheet of 'con stickers

Takara "Megaplex" is a more accurate reissue of the original japanese Megatron (ie: no chrome, and blue inner thighs), but with all the accessories from #6 reissue (except the stickers and mouse mat), including a yellow energy mace.

Hasbro reissue = pfft, yeah right! @lol@

Agreed he still has the crappiest robot mode of any TF Ive seen. To make up for this Ive been customising an RID Bludgeon to look like G1 Megs (ie: painted him silver, and Im gonna stick a cannon on his arm).

@loll@ @loll@ For some reason, I don't seem to have a problem with Megatron robot mode. I mean, he got real leg, arm, head, and body. To me, the only part that kill him is the oversize scope. Fortunately, this piece could be removed. Does any1 beside me like Megatron toy?

He's got too many foreheads, stumps for arms, a little squat body, and you could fit 7 donkeys in the gap between his legs. Need I go on?

does 'ugly face overall' fit into the foreheads category? :P

It's worth it anyway, just by virtue of being MEGATRON.

As I sit here looking at my TRU CS Skywarp, and my TRU CS Jazz (oops, I mean "Autobot Jazz"), I've realized something very important on G1 toys now - they suck. The characters behind the toys are what made them so popular; that's why Diaclone, Jet Robo, or whatever else these toys were called before Transformers never took off like TFs did. Same toys, more fuel for the imagination.

I right now am torn between saving up for Megatron #6 and splurging on some cheaper TRU and Japanese reissues. Oh, the agony!! :P

Dude, I agree also, except the scope doesn't even bother me. I like him too. I used to think that he looked weird in robot mode when I was a kid, but for some reason the G1 Transformers have looked better and better to me as an adult. I can appreciate their robot modes more even if they have limited articulation. Since I'm more into the displaying aspect of collecting than actually fiddling and playing with them anyway, the limited articulation doesn't bother me at all.

Yeah, I'm one of the few who actually like Megatron's robot mode, even if he does have skinny legs, a disproportionate face, and stumpy arms. (lol) Seriously, I do like it, mainly for sentimental reasons maybe. And to go a step further, I think Transformers look more interesting when they don't have "human" body proportions, when they have some slightly exaggerated features. In my mind, if I saw a four-story tall robot that had a physique like Schwarzenegger versus one that looked like the Megatron toy, I'd think I'd be more intimidated by the weird, disproportionate robot with the huge, oversized arm cannon aimed at me. Y'know, it's kinda like the ED-209 or Robocop 2 factor; you've got this weird, mishapened hunk of a war machine just bristling with weird weaponry. Strange yet cool-looking. (I've put too much thought into this topic...) (lol)

@loll@ @loll@ Looks like I'm in the same boat as you, Devil Bat. I bought my TFs for sentimental/ nostagia and as a result they are more for displaying rather than playing. And yup, articulation doesn't bother me as well.

As for the human comment, yup, I totally agree. And for this reason, that's why I hate the RID brothers and BW toys.

I guess my other reason for not hating Megatron robot mode is that I'm surprise that Takara even managed to pull it off. I mean, we're talking about converting a flat object like a gun into a 3 dimentional robot. I know it's not a 100% like the cartoon, but it's pretty much close to it.
