The Evolution (Randy Orton, Batista and Ric Flair) come down for an interview. Ric Flair says that the team is thrilled that they are still on RAW and especially that Triple H is back on RAW. Flair then reveals that Triple H will be here later on tonight and he’ll deal with the RAW lockerroom for their reaction last week when he was drafted by Paul Heyman. Flair moves on saying that he’s tired of the lack of respect for Randy Orton. He demands more respect starting now. Orton takes the mic and has some trouble talking and he attributes it to having his tonsils taken out last week. Orton says he has guts unlike Mick Foley, who is a coward.

 

This causes Foley to come out, who asks Orton if he’s feeling a little bit unloved lately. Foley says he doesn’t know about the fans, but he proved himself at Wrestlemania. He proved that in a 3-on-2 situation, he’s capable of beating a Hollywood actor and a guy who writes children’s books. Foley then says that everyone believes that if Evolution wasn’t there, he would have kicked Orton’s ass. A furious Flair says that the next night, Orton gave him the opportunity to face him one-on-one and Foley didn’t show up. Foley then challenges Orton to a match at Backlash for the Intercontinental title in a match where Evolution will be banned from ringside. Flair says they have no problem with these stipulations. Foley has one more demand - there will be no rules in this match. Flair says again that they have no problem with any match against Foley under any terms but Mick wants to hear it from Orton. Finally, a reluctant Orton says yes, he’s okay with it.

 

Backstage, La Resistance, and Garrison Cade are welcomg Tajiri to RAW. They tell Tajiri that he needs to spit mist into the face of the first person who walks through the door to be accepted into RAW. It happens to be Jonathan Coachman who gets sprayed and the four of them laugh until the others warn Tajiri that he’s going to be in trouble from Eric Bischoff now.

 

Nidia vs. Molly

Molly comes down wearing another wig. Nidia ends up taking Molly’s wig off, causing Molly to get pre-occupied in getting it back. Nidia then rolls her up for the pinfall.

 

They show clips from last week where Edge attacked Eric Bischoff. Backstage, Eric Bischoff talks to Johnny Spade and is furious that the clip aired. Bischoff says that people need to learn that he’s in charge of RAW. Bischoff says that Edge needs to learn it first and he books him into a match against Kane at Backlash.

 

Hurricane comes out for his match but as he’s posing at the top of the ramp, Triple H comes out and beats him up. Triple H then heads to the ring and addresses everyone who was laughing at him being traded to Smackdown!. Triple H says he knows for a fact that Eric Bischoff would have traded anyone to get him back and that’s because Eric is a smart businessman. Bischoff comes out and agrees with Triple H saying that RAW couldn’t be the #1 show without him. He says that he would have traded the entire roster to get him back but Triple H changes the topic and asks about his title match. Bischoff says he already made the Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit match and can’t legally change it. But he can add to it so he makes a Wrestlemania rematch by making it into a triple threat: Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit for the world title. Bischoff calls it the final encounter.

 

Backstage, The Evolution are huddled up welcoming Triple H back when Shelton Benjamin walks by. Batista tells Triple H that Benjamin was one of the guys who was laughing last week. Batista confronts Shelton and out of nowhere Triple H nails him and lays him out.

 

In the ring, Lance Storm says that he tried very hard to please the fans with the awful music and the silly dance. And he’s turned into a joke - being mocked by the fans and his peers. Storm says that he wishes he was traded to Smackdown!, he could have had a new beginning. Rhyno interrupts him and they start to fight.

Rhyno wins in a very quick match with a GORE.

 

Backstage, Coach badmouths Tajiri to Eric Bischoff. Coach lies and says that Tajiri said he doesn’t respect Bischoff or anyone else on the RAW roster. He also says Tajiri called him incompetent. But what pains him most is what if it was Eric who walked through that door. An angry Bischoff says that Tajiri will have to wrestle against Kane tonight in a no-DQ match. Tajiri gets scared and Coach laughs at him and walks away.

Shawn Michaels & Chris Benoit vs. Batista & Ric Flair

Lilian Garica announces Johnny Spade as the special guest referee. Johnny whispers something to Lilian and she announces that he now wants to be known as Johnny Nitro. Shawn Michaels ends up hitting the Sweet Chin Music on Flair for the pinfall as Michaels and Benoit become the new tag team champs. As they celebrate, Johnny Nitro informs Lilian Garcia that the match needs to restart as Flair was not the legal man in the ring. Flair tries to roll up a stunned Michaels and Nitro counts a quick two but Shawn gets up and nails Johnny. Benoit and Michaels take out Batista and Flair just as Johnny gets up and calls for a disqualification.

 

Backstage, Shelton Benjamin is talking to Eric Bischoff about what just happened to him. Stone Cold walks in and says he should take charage of the situation and address Triple H himself. Shelton says he’s right and asks Bischoff for a match against Triple H tonight which Bischoff agrees to.

 

Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel

Trish Stratus is the guest but Jericho is under orders from Bischoff not to touch Trish so he’ll have to get his revenge later. Trish brags about embarassing Jericho on the grandest stage of all. Jericho wants an explanation and so Trish explains that when she was in the hospital where was Jericho? He hurt his knee, but Christian came over and stayed with her. That’s when they plotted the WM plan but that’s not all they did. Jericho thanks Trish for the explanation and proceeds to call her a bunch of names, implying that she’s a slut.

 

Backstage, Trish Stratus complains and cries to Christian. Christian tells Trish that he just talked to Bischoff and got the match and Backlash will be the worst night in Jericho’s life.

 

Tajiri vs. Kane

No-DQ match as mentioned earlier. They head outside where Tajiri spits some green mist into Kane’s face and sneaks back in before the ten count to win the match.

 

Backstage, Chris Benoit has some words of encouragement for Shelton Benjamin. As Benjamin walks away, Hurricane and Mick Foley also wish him the best.

 

Backstage, Ric Flair does the same to Triple H.

 

Triple H vs. Shelton Benjamin

Shelton holds his own, getting a couple close falls which only infuriates Triple H. Flair interferes which brings out Chris Benoit to even up the sides. Commercial. The finish sees Benoit and Flair cause a ruckus outside, distracting Triple H. Benjamin then nails him with a splash in the corner and rolls him up for the upset victory. Shelton and Benoit celebrate as a shocked Triple H and an angry Flair are left to ponder what went wrong.
