Question About 1987 Battle Armor Cobra Commander

ever since i got my 2001 battle armor CC(my original battle armor CC, played with it so much in the dirt/water as a kid) noticed the peg hole is missing on the side where the hose is suppose to connect to. how is that possible ? any ideas

The mold *was* modified for the 1997 repaint. Since they wre originally trying to get the battle helmet version from 1982, they were running out of time when they were forced to go with the 87 version.

 

I don't know if they even had the tooling for his accessories at that point But knowing that, either way, they weren't using the rebreather hose, they removed that very slim, very breakable peg from his head (which, without a hose to connect, is just asthetically strange-looking).

 

And when you consider the TRU repaints were just a quick cash-in to shut up the few 3 3/4" fans who had been screaming bloody murder since 1994, to make even a slight modification like that was certainly not laziness.

 

If anything, tho, the failure to put it back in 2001 was cost-effective, but technically lazy.

You can still pick up an original '87 CC for a few bucks and just use the hose from the 2001 version. I personally like the original better (because he's silver), though I think the darker blue on the 2001 version looks better.
