Why Does Hasbro Keep Testing Me?

I have been collecting SW fings since their POTF2 days in the 90's. I'm one of those people that get only 1 figure (sometimes 2 if they are an army builder) and I open them for display.

Over the years I have been getting pretty frustrated at Hasbro's distribution. One minute the local stores are clogged with new figures, the next I can't find a damn thing.

From the last 2 waves I have 1 figure. Jabba's Sail Barge R2. I cannot find the rest of the Jabba, or the Yavin wave to save my life!

And the Star Destroyer wave is already getting released. That pretty much puts me behind 3 waves.

All my stores have nothing new. Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Kmart. All of them! Oh, they have gotten figures. But all the older crap that everyone seems to already have.

Everytime this happens I throw up my hands and wonder why I don't collect something else. There are many other toys that appear able to make it to the shelves on a regular basis. Even Hasbro's other lines like GI Joe, or Transformers manage to end up everywhere without difficulty it seems.

So, anyone know what the deal is? Why does this keep happening every few months or so? Is there some reason I'm unaware of for a company to spend money on a license (and I imagine this one costs lots), create the figures and produce them for the soul purpose of keeping scalpers in business? Is it some sort of trick? Perhaps a marketing ploy?

Me, I'd do what I could to get as many of the figures into the hands of those that wish to buy them.

But I'm just odd that way I guess.

I think it's more due to retailers and their idiot toy department managers. They or the warehouses simply don't order enough product from Hasbro, so there's dry spells like this frequently. Hell, my local Wal-Mart has exactly two figures on the pegs, and it's been like this since early Febuary.

Sometimes, the only way to complete your collection is to order online. I still haven't found the Jabba's Palace wave, and I found exactly one set of the Yavin wave (that came home with me). And I have yet to find the repacked Obi-Wan and Jango Ultra figures. Hmph.

I have come across the Jabba wave and the Yavin wave once each. I have not seen either for about a month. All the local stores are dry. I don't know if it's the stores or Hasbro. I could see the stores being at fault if it were one or two places, but every store in the area has no new Star Wars stuff. They have plenty TMNT, TF, LOTR and Marvel. I really don't know what is going on.

Hasbro believes that if you still enjoy Star Wars after the abysmal prequels, than you can tolerate anything, including driving yourself crazy over the toys, and probably deserve it.

I think it is a fair assumption on Hasbro's part.

Well it seems that it just cannot be dept managers responsible for the shortages. The problem has to be coming from the source.

As far as online ordering, all the stores that charge a relatively modest price for the figures are usually sold out. The ones that add $5-$7 to the price...well I just cannot justify looking at a shopping cart with a $100 price tag that should cost me half that much.

I have money that I am willing to give to Hasbro for their figures. If they don't want it...guess I'll find something else to spend it on.

I don't know the reasons why, but maybe it has to do where the area you live?

Maybe, it really has to do with store (chain) that carries them, they probably figure that children want toys like TMNT, Spider-man, Batman, Poke Mon and so on. And if grown-up want them, there is always on-line, comic and Ebay stores to supply them.

There could be alot of reasons....Frankly we can't figure out their conspiracy theories...Just either keep on buying them second hand or simply luck out when WM, Target, TRU or any other of these so called toy stores get them, or quick collecting...
