Just by looking at this toy, I'm absolutely in love with it.

 

The one thing I don't understand is why this prototype Astrotrain is an E-Hobby exclusive. At first I thought Takara would make the white Astrotrain as an E-Hobby exclusive. It would make more sense.........but I like to see the prototype Astrotrain in a classic box much better, so I'm glad Takara did what they did.

The white Astrotrain is the Japanese version, they had a different version than the purple one whe got in the US. The ehobby version is cartoon acurate.

I think in Japan, they had two astrotrain. The white one and the other one. I think they put the white one in dw since that's the first one in Japan.

While I think the white shuttle/black train Astrotrain look more realistic, it's a rather jarring change from his original colors.

 

And I just don't know -what- to make of this dark-grey/purple thing.

I've been waiting for a cartoon accurate Astrotrain for years. I'm just glad they're releasing one at all.

i think i will be getting both and hopefully hasbro reissues the purple and white one...3 different variant astrotrains for me...mauahhaha

i totally agree with you. that box is hot. IT sold me and i was iffy on the price.
