Some Observations

Viper Hunter

Recommended Posts

Was making some rounds today, and decided to check out the Wal-Mart near where I was stopping to grab lunch for everyone, and found some newer stuff there.

Not having quite enough funds to grab it all up today, I decided to at least put it on layaway, so I did. They had the PIRHANA boat w/Cutter (no friggin Shipwreck please ;)) and the NIGHT ADDER w/Wild Weasel and a slew of 2-packs I needed for myself and some other wish list gets I'm hunting for, like the AV & VIPER 2-pack (3V style) so I secured them ALL in layaway.

ANYWAY, the boat I already have (thanks Outsiders) so this was for somebody else, but the Night Adder I've not seen before, so this was the first in-hand and upclose look at it I've had, and just from doing that, have to say I'm VERY impressed with it! The colors are very nice and Cobraesque, and it looks pretty menacing. I wanted to buy it NOW, so I could open it up, but I was able to fight the urge and be responsible. ;)

Now..some other observations I had, upon opening the new 3V 2-pack of SE & SS, was the comic book/product catalog inside. I was looking at the pictures of the figures for 3V and notice almost ALL of them were sporting the extra swivel joint above the knee?

I couldn't remember if the Mindbender and Snake Eyes figures I opened already had it or not, so I looked and they don't. Only the BTR Firefly has this feature, that I know of, thus far. You can always tell the ones that have it, because of the extra pin connections on the sides of the knees, and originally this was one of the reasons why I didn't think I cared too much for the swivel thighs, but after getting the FF figure, it seems to look okay, and I do like the poseability it adds, especially if the figure comes with a funky twisted foot or something whacky looking, you can correct it.

I have to say I rather like this feature much better now, and after seeing the figures in the catalog appear with it, but the retail versions don't...is this something that's still undecided on, as a permanent feature, or has it been nixed?

Yeah Vh I was mighty impressed with the Adder too. And that is no Shipwreck....I call him cutter. I wan to customize a Boston hat for him at some point.

I have noticed for the last few waves all the pre release photo's of the figs have the swivel thigh. I personally don't want them on my Joes at all. It hurts customizing the lower and upper legs imo.

The Night Adder is by far and away the best JvC/VvV vehicle to date. I hope (probably in vain) that Hasbro has seen the light and will produce more quality products like this in the future. Also, I have the Piranha and I, too, call that "shipwreck" Cutter.

#WTF# What the hell man... I grabbed the Night Adder for you and you told me you didn't want it so you make me return it...

Then you decide to pick it up anyway... #WTF# @cussing@ @cussing@

I never told you to pick an Adder up for me! You wanted to take back my PIRHANA, and I had to stop you, cause I DID want that.

THAT, my friend, is the real story! @haha@

Besides... not only that, what makes you so sure the Adder I have on layaway is for ME?

I asked you about the Pirhana and the Night Adder and you told me that you wanted the Pirhana but the Night Adder looked dumb and didn't want it...

I remember asking you about 3 times about it and you said nope... You just wanted the Pirhana...

Picking up the Night Adder for someone else... Good excuse my friend but I know you all to well... @hmmm@ @smilepunch@

Didn't want the Night Adder... Then you shouldn't make statements like this...

I think even Perry Mason would have been proud of me... ;) @cool@

But it's cool man... I know how you are cause you'll look at something and say you don't like it and then once you see it in hand... You want to buy it now so you could open it up... @loll@

oky, I'm not really impressed with the VVV Pirahna Attack Boat.

I was looking at the 3 gun batteries, and when you place your joes on the foot pegs for display purposes, the guns are aimed back at them, did HASBRO screw up or what?

I think Outsiders (in his drunken stupor) just MADE my case for me, by admitting I NEVER asked of him to get me an Adder!

There's a difference between him stating he GOT me one and I told him to take it back, and me telling him NOT to get me one cause I didn't want it, but now I've seen it, and actually like it! ^_^

Stay out of the legal profession Outsiders me boy! ;)

Nope they are packed that way fr packaging only. The instructions tell you to reverse them. Its quite easy to do.

Read the earlier posts... I said I asked you if you wanted one... I never said you asked me to get you one...

I know I asked you 3 times if you wanted one and you told me you didn't cause it looked stupid... But it doesn't matter cause I never did find it so I'm glad you were able to get it...

I think all that nasty beer that VH is drinking is making him think he is posting based on 2 different posts... @loll@

You named the fruit pies at work?

Is Sarah thank you very much an apple, blueberry or cherry pie? I wonder what you call the lemon pies?

I knew a girl named Sarah but her last name wasn't thank you very much...

Maybe I've missed something, but isn't this the same joint construction that Depth Charge has? Or it it just because they've tried to hide it by making the sleeve blouse over the joint a little?

Also an OT comment: I saw someone somewhere (how's that for being vague?) make a decent case for this figure being a jungle ops Muskrat. He has close to the same hair color, and the fact that the Pirahna looks like a Vietnam era PB (read: swamp/jungle river boat), makes this an even better reason to call him Muskrat. Not that I'm arguing about it or anything. Just another name option for a figure that is anything but Shipwreck. #US1#

That was proably the guy behind www.generalsjoes.com, he mentions that theory in his review, although apparently asside from the Camo stripes the figures clothing is very similar to the USCG's new uniform which IMO puts another point for it really being Cutter,

Cutter or Muskrat...either one would work for me, but for the love of GOD Hasbro, enough with the blantant abuse of Shipwreck after Shipwreck after Shipwreck, for figure fillers.

He's already busy pretending to be Cobra Commander up on Cobra Mole Hill, now he's back to being a Red-head and driving attack boats.

As cool as the particular figure is, that comes with the Pirhana, Hasbro could have at least given him a different name and added to the list of characters yet to be reintroduced in the line.
