Why Does Cobra Commander Wear A Mask

ok we all know that in the cartoon..CC is a cobra-la scientist that was disfigured from a lab accident,, but the comics and cartoon are 2 different stories...does any comic tell why he wears the helmet or hood??

simply enough...he wears it to protect his identity...since he was angered that his identity was lost by the US govn. ...so he used that to start a terrorist org....so basicall...no one knows who CC is,,,untill we found out in the Marvel run,.

 

hes a human just like anyone else...

 

 

but hes also completely insane,delerious and distrauat in his own world...which makes him that much more powerful and COOL!

The mask represents mystery and fear--its also partly why most COBRA soldiers are masked too--the faceless enemy is far more intimidating then one whose faces you can see.

Naturally most terrorist don't want their identity revealed. It was probably a carry-over if you will from his early terrorist activity days, and it just got more regal as time went on and Cobra became more powerful.

The thing about Cobra Commander and his mask is that . . the Joes know who he is. They fight along side his son and have even meet his ex-wife. His file card says his name and birthplace are "Classified". meaning the Joes know but just aren't letting anyone else know.
