Hello all, this has probably been covered at some point, but i have a couple questions for everyone.

(1) What types of paint would you recommend when doing a custom? I got into a little bit of customizing a few years ago, but none of the paint i tried ever stayed on (ie/ chipping around joints).

(2)What type of putty/sculpting material do you use for adding features to figures?

Any suggestions would be awesome, and thanks :D

Every customizer does thing differently. :)

I use a brand of paint called Apple Barrel acrylics. I buy them at wal-mart for fairly cheap. They are really good paints, but they dry kinda of chalky, so you will definatly need a matte finish or something to seal it also.

As far as sculpting, I use Super Sculpy III, which you can find at any craft store.

Hope that helps you.

Is sculpy air dry though? All the kinds of sculpy i've seen are all oven bake...hmmm, can actually bake a figure without damaging it?

What you do is sculpt what you need to on teh figure. The boil a pot of water, and put the figure in there for a few minutes. Take him out and put him in the freezer to immediatly cool him off. That'll harden the sculpy for ya.

Absolute best paints to use: Testors Model Master Acrylics and Games Workshop Citadel Colour paints.

Best putty/filler: Milliput 2-part epoxy putty. Either the yellow/grey or superfine. You can use water on Milliput to smooth and sculpt, and it's sandable/drillable/paitable after it's dried.

Check my site at http://www.jinsaotomesdangeroustoys.com/ and look at the tips sections at the bottom for more help! Enjoy.

What kinda stores would carry the Milliput epoxy putty? Would that be a craft store thing, or a hardware store thing, or somethin else?

Hobby store mainly. Any place that carries like RC car kits, balsa wood planes, and especially the places that carry Games Workshop products.
