I'm really looking forward to having Barrel Roll in the comic and I hope that this brings in Black Out and their sister Cadet Bombshell. Hopefully then we'll get to have more characters with good back stories.

I'm looking forward to the new Reloaded series. If this series delivers what it seems to be promising, it just might surpass the main series as far as what fans accept to be true Joe continuity. One thing I hope happens in this new series, I hope Cobra wins every now and then and that CC is portrayed as he was in the first 25 or so issues of Marvel's comic instead of a power mad fool that has no military intelligence.

So G.I. Joe Reborn and Cobra Reborn are serving as the "introduction" one-shots to G.I. Joe Reloaded?Pretty cool.

 

Though I'm a little worried.From the preview we saw of Cobra Reborn,the writing was cheesy and corny,characterization is off,and we have a writer (Paul Jenkins) who has openly admitted he doesn't know jack about G.I. Joe.

 

The art does look nice though...

you know i was REALLY excited to see the cobra reborn cover. i loved the more ski-mask looking mask for cobra commander. that was one of the most gorgeous covers i've seen in a long time.

 

however, the blurb we saw, showed a cobra commander that looks more like CC when the new joe comic started its regular run, when tomax and xamot pick him up post-nanite removal or whatever. i hated that CC. i do like the CC in the serpentor arc. the longer eyeholes in his hood show his human side a bit.

I think to a certain degree Reloaded will be similiar to the main series, but there are not many writers out there willing to screw with over 20 years of history. Most likely we will not seen EXTREME changes in characters, but from the test art, and the first look at Cobra Reborn I think we can see that certain characters will have a harder edge to them. I read in an interview of John Ney Reiber that, as he put it

 

"We've seen a lot of Supermen over the years. A lot of Hulks. But Scarlett has always been Scarlett. Snake-Eyes has always been Snake-Eyes. Stalker has always been Stalker. You have to respect that."

 

I think the line is in good hands.

I'm not sure about the writing, but the one-shots are done by a different writer than the ongoing, right? So hopefully it'll get better.

 

As far as characters being off.. that's a load! They're *new* characers in a *new* Universe.. how can they be off? Its a new take on the Joe mythos. That *is* their character!

 

And Jenkins didn't say he knows Jack about Joe, he said he doesn't have any pre-conceived notions about who and what the characerss are supposed to be (IE, he doesn't know what they've done in the rgular Joe series), so he just gets the breakdowns from Josh and DD (whiich are acurate and faithful to the overall Joe lore), and creates new stories with no nostalgic bias like we've been seeing from Josh in the regular series.

I'm looking forward to Barrel Roll and hopefully some more of the new characters from the toy line. It is evident from his Frontline arc that Brandon Jerwa really knows his Joe and he cares about the characters. It's going to be fantastic! I am not at all interested in the Reborn/Reloaded books. I'm not a big Jenkins fan and don't like the look of the book. Hey, I'm a traditionalist. I'll just be sticking with the regular book.

why is the GI Joe Vol 2. regular series TPB being released? Was it discontinued or something and does this new one have anything different?

Thanks for clearing that up, now to mark the calandar with all of these awesome releases, but does anyone know if G.I.JOE: TPB volume 2: RECKONINGS, which is being re-released is going to have any extras (was it discontinued)?
