The drones arent getting paid enough to CARE.

yup. therein lies the problem.

Hell, I bet if you DOUBLED their salary, they STILL probably wouldnt care.

The only ting that will make a diff is if you TRAIN them to notice the difference--and give a boost in the paycheck. of course it probably still wouldnt matter.

I know from personal experience what the people in the returns department go through. A lot of times, they get caught between keeping people happy and enforcing store polices (which tend to make people angry). After a while, even the best employee will let there guard down in order to avoid a petty arguement.

GGGGRRRRRRRR!!!

Tonight I saw the worst case of this EVER. Of course it was in Clarksville Walmart again.

There were NINE, yes NINE packs , AT LEAST, that were victim of this. Mostly Gray Iron Grenadier, TEle viper, pit viper, and Cobra Viper packs. The little bastard that did it used friggin BEach head and Mirage to replace the IGs; Mirage to replace the Tele viper (actually looked almost to make sense); and Kamakura to replace the viper.

After my blood boiled for a few minutes, i stepped inot the next aisle debating whether or not to report this when I found 2 employees talking about toys. I grabbed 3 of the packs that were like this and brought it to their attention.

The girl said that she would report it to the department manager or someone along those lines. i doubt it will help but it wont hurt.

Funny thing is while the other employee was standing there as i talked, i thot in the back of my mind how wierd it would be if he knew about it, and if he knew the guy returning stuff--for all i know the cust service reps probly DO know him and dont care what he returns!

Yeah...that kinda thing irritates me as well. There's people out there that justify this kind of thing in their warped little mind, and it doesn't bother them in the least. I'd even bet they thought there was nothing wrong about doing it because in their mind, they're replacing the figure they want for another one, and no one will be none the wiser; right? Except for law-abiding collectors like us here on the boards that notice when certain figures are missing from packs. I've never seen this in the stores, and I find it interesting that it happens, no matter how irritating it is. And the run-of-the-mill employee's not gonna know the difference between a 1986 Viper and a 2001 Neo-Viper. Unless they're a collector themselves, they wouldn't know a Tele-Viper if it rained down in droves from the sky. So I can see how the 'ol switcharoo happens. And who's to say they don't switch them in the store just to swipe the one figure they want, and some unsuspecting collector grabs the "altered" set in ahurry, excited because they finally found it, only to get home and find they grabbed the switched set. But then again, upon returning such a set the buyer would relay out of frustration what happened and why they want to return the item, and such an item should never be returned to the store shelves. Where I worked they had this big place in the back where all the damaged stuff would go to be returned to the company or whatever. And maybe somewhow some of those sets are put back out on the shelves out of ignorance...

And usually there's supposed to be employees that are assigned each department, and that would definitely cut down on some of the swiping and changing. I used to work at Wal-Mart, but it was in one of the smaller stores. Nowdays it seems the larger super stores spread people out more and make them cover two or three departments at a time, and that makes it hard to watch eveything. So I undertsand where the loop-holes are if you will.

I know it's just gotta aggravating when you are looking for a certain figure set, namely the Tele-Viper set, and you come across a Sgt. Airborne/Wide-scope set instead. (lol) Just an example there; that's not happened to me...yet.

I haven't seen the toy swapping happneing around were I am, but we have toy scalpers out the wazoo.

There is a local farmers market with an indoor flee market. Thats were I get most of my vintage Joes and Star Wars figures.

But anyway they all have girlfriends and what not that work at walmarts and stuff and then they show up the minute the store opens the monring after the nightshif puts out toys and they buy the place out at their girl friends discount and then hang them up in their little flee Market shop for lik twenty bucks a piece or more.

I never buy MOC figs from them, but it pisses me off that when I buy a loose vintage guy I know they are just gonna turn around and buy more carded figures that I wanted to get.

I haven't seen it done with current waves because I can't find the current wave Viper/Alley vipers here yet. No doubt because of scalpers, army builders, as well as the fact that this is the holiday season when this kind of stuff sells the most. I have seen it done with the first wave, as I said before though.

Screw the employees and the department managers. The person you need to talk to is the Loss Prevention Manager. I used to do LP for a Kmart and believe me, the people that are bored watching the cameras all day are very interested in any shoplifter tips, especially when it comes to fraudulent returns because they are so hard to catch.

All they have to do is look at what time the return receipt was printed (they're supposed to look through all return receipts every night to watch for recurring names/ merchandise returns) and then view the customer service tapes for that time. It won't catch him, but it will give them a heads up as to who is doing this stuff.

And BTW, a lot of retail store security people are not the wannabe cop losers that everyone thinks they are. If you want to try and stop your figure switching problem, talk to the people that really care---the people it looks bad on every time some criminal activity loses their store money. I actually helped catch a shoplifter at a TRU once when I was shopping by pointing him out to one of the employees on the floor. Felt pretty good. #US1#

I think tis is the most pathetic thing I've ever seen or read. I saw a pack a Target the other day. It was supposed to be th Desert CLAW/Sand Scorpion pack, but the figures were gone and the accessories were the only thing left. The worst thing, it was all taped back up and on the shelf. @grumpy@

thats good info, I will remember that.

I would be all over it if it happened where Ive lived the past 2.5 years, in cookeville tenn. Now Im between columbia and franklin, so hopefully it doenst happen here.

I t happens wher my fiances parents live, in clarksville about an hour from us, so im only there like once or twice a month. But its like a 2nd home to me so that is why It bothers me so much.

Its a bit of a catch 22, because technically those packs CAN STILL SELL, if they stay there long enough. They do still contain 2 figures, and some may even think "ooh, it must be a factory error"! and buy it nnot knowing the truth.

I have to admit this guy doing it is REALLY GOOD, because you can barely tell the pack has beenopened and resealed, on the majority of them. (i say guy but hell it could be a team of people doing this... who knows).

Devil Bat: because they are resealed, i dont thimk they are doing it in the store. Plus, I pointed out to those 2 employees that they ARE Being returned, becuase they have the tell-tale "void" sticker remains on them (when you return something and they put that pink sticker on there, once its removed it says "void" a few times).

I hope they nab the bastard.

King James, I know what you mean man. I used to help out with shoplifters at the Wal-Mart I used to work at. I loved helping to nab them. If the right people are doing their job though when it comes to defective or damaged product, then this kinda thing won't happen. Someone's dropping the ball somewhere if it makes its way back onto store shelves...

And firestounge, you're right dude! I forgot about the "void" stickers. Someone must be really ticked off about having to buy a figure they don't want in a two-pack just to get the one they do want to go through so much trouble and risk getting caught and banned and/or fined. Sheesh...
