The Rock On Regis & Kelly!

Recommended Posts

The Rock appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly this morning to promote the opening of his film "The Rundown" which opens 9/26.

Regis asked if Rock gave up the wrestling business. Rock said that he grew up in the business and he hasn't completely given it up, but he's concentrating on working with actors. He notes that his dad (Rocky Johnson) was a wrestler and he used to wrestle in Madison Square Garden all the time. He is asked if other wrestlers ever visit him on the movie set and they end up wrestling. He says no. Note: Rock was on Letterman last night and said pretty much the same thing. He almost comes across as if he has out wrestling behind him and wants to move on with Hollywood.

Rock noted he lost 25 pounds for the role in the film, where he plays a "retrieval expert" doing one last job in the Amazon. He says that working with Christopher Walken was amazing and he loved working with Walken. Rock says that while they were filming, Walken noted that the Rolling Stones were playing and wondered if they could get tickets. Rock said that between the two of them, they could score some. Walken told him the show was 10/15 but when Rock called his agent to get them to find him tickets, he realized it was 11/12 and "that's the genius of Walken."

They aired a clip from the film. Rock noted that he's getting ready to film "Spy Hunter" and Kelly said that he is going to have to retire from the ring since he's so busy. Regis drew an analogy between Rock and Arnold Schwarzenegger as they both were the tops of their field and moved onto acting. Rock pulled out an Arnold impersonation to end the segment.
