I'm currently working on my first custom, a Barry Allen version of The Flash, and i'm having some problems painting the flesh on the mouth part of the mask, does anyone have any advice on how to do go about it so that the flesh/mask color are properly divided and don't look run together.. or is it just a matter of practice?

any advice is greatly appreciated...

Depends on a lot of things.

If your working on a already molded aprt just follow the demarcation lines for the mask. If its a brand new sculpt them you can mask out the contours with tape or liquid masking agents.

If you are worried about a red undercoat showing through, then apply a few THIN coast of wihite to the face area, then apply your fleshtone on top of that.

If the problem is simply getting that mask/face line as crisp as possible them try painting it with a magnifying lamp, or using the masking tape trick.

The biggest tip I can offer is to experiment on junk figures before you work on the prized project, do this to work out as many of the bugs in your technique and to explore ways to troubleshoot when it goes wrong.

ok heres what you do, paint the hole face in the flesh tone, then use a sharpie for the mask, works better an is neater.

I'll certainly try both of those and see how they work,.... only problem w/ a sharpie is.. getting the color to match...?

well you could do the whole mask in sharpie? or if you wanted to you could blend, sharpie ink blends well before it dries

i did all the black on this bopy in sharpie, then blended with light blue for highlights and shadows
