Heavy Water

Code Name: Heavy water trooper Cobra Radiological Weapons Specialists

If it fogs photographic film and makes your shorts glow in the dark, the COBRA HEAVY WATER troopers know what to do with it. the most feared division of the TOXO-VIPER troopers(AKA "the leaky suit brigade") most of these guys trained at top secret facilities in the former soviet union. It was there that they worked as repair technicians at power plants and weapons labs of renegade and outlaw states, which were desperate for anyone who seemed to know what he was doing, to come and deal with their leaking reactors and unstable munitions stockpiles. In other words, they were the best in working with the worst. HEAVY WATER suits are composed of lead foil and ultra dense composites in multiple laminations, with self contained cooling systems that also serve to thoretically wash away dangerous accumulations of radioactive materials. they slosh when they walk and sound as if they're gargling when they speak, but Cobra troops know enought to step out of their way when they come down the corridor.

"Radiation is our friend. Carlessness with shiellding is our enemy." __ Sign above the Heavy Water troopers locker room

So basically they are underwater Toxo-Vipers... ....I would've prefered to have regular Toxo-Vipers first before we can any variations. If Hasbro had splashed on some purple, red and neon green,we could've had the new Toxo-Viper right here.

That's one repaint I hope we see!!

Thanks for the info Storm. I would never of guessed this guy was a new addition to the ranks of the Toxo-Vipers and Sludge-Vipers. Although I still think they could have come up with a better name then Heavy Water.

The term "heavy water" refers to irradiated water usually found in the cooling systems of nuclear power plants. It seems like an appropriate name to me.

Heavy water is chemically the same as regular (light) water, but with the two hydrogen atoms (as in H2O) replaced with deuterium atoms (hence the symbol D2O). Deuterium is an isotope of hydrogen; it has one extra neutron. Thus the deutrium atom consists of one proton and one neutron in the atomic nucleus and one orbiting electron. It is the extra neutron that makes heavy water "heavy", about 10% heavier in fact.

Exactly. I like the name. I agree it sounds more like a singular character rather than a echelon of troops, but it's kinda cool to see more "real-world" terminology used in the Joe-verse. I can't wait to get the figure.

I was pleasanty surprised by this figure, and how cool he is. I asked Andrew Frankel at the Con if he was a trooper or a unique character, and at that time, he said the FC's were not written yet. I like the reference to the Toxo vipers, and now that this is the second JVC reference to Toxo Vipers(the first being Tunnel Rats ST gear) maybe we will gewt a new toxo Viper. And the only other thing missing will be a new sculpt AIRTIGHT!!!!!! Maybe they can give him swivel wrists, so you can take his hand off, like the old "break off hand" trick (ala Frontlines)
