12" Cobra Viper Review

This is my first review, so go easy on me. ^_^

When I first saw this at the Joe con, I thought it was cool and would be worth checking out when it hit retail. I found it today at TRU and since I had a $20 gift card burning a hole in my wallet, I decided it looked pretty cool and picked it up.

Body: Not much to say except it's the standard 12" body. The mask on the face is painted on and there is a facial scar on the left side of the face.

Uniform/Boots/Chest Plate: The uniform is cloth and a dark blue in color, it fits the figure well and the cargo pockets on the side are a nice touch. The boots are your generic bad guy jackboots. They feel rubbery, but could be plastic.

Accessories: He comes with a pistol and an AK-47. The 47 does have an elastic sling, so it can be put over the shoulder or across the chest. The pistol fits snugly in the holster. The helmet also has a strap that connects the two ends at the bottom to secure the helmet. The goggles are orange-tinted. The best part of the figure is the flag it comes with! The cobra emblem is on the smooth plasticy side and the reverse is a felt-y type material. The chest plate (Body Armor) is the same as the 12" CC, but done in dark blue. The large Cobra emblem is visible on the front and back. The belt is separate and works with the molded belt nicely.

Overall: I had some trepidation about this figure and it's price point ($20), however after getting it open and on display, I have to say that I like it. The AK-47 and Flag accessories are nice choices and this figure really makes me think of the creation of Cobra Island in the Marvel series. I like it enough that I'm considering getting another.

The downside is the price. Since it is a TRU exclusive, the $14.99 or $9.99 price is now $19.99. The elastic can and will sag over time, but it can be replaced. I usually pass on all of the 12" figures with the exception of CC since most of them are not done very well, however I think Hasbro did a very nice job with this one.

(If the mods want to move this to the review section, that's OK. It's just that threads go there to die.)
