Batman Wired Scrapped... Bring on The Batman!

Thursday, August 14, 2003 8:18 CDT

Superhero Hype! first reported in June that Warner Bros. was creating a brand new Batman animated series, which was to feature a young batman and his early years as a superhero. The series was to be titled Batman Wired and feature the caped crusader in a high-tech suit of armor.

Solid word has now reached us that the head of the Cartoon Network cancelled the idea. Instead they are now working on creating a show called The Batman, which will have a slighly older Batman but still take place in his earlier years as the hero.

Stay tuned for more updates on this!

good thing they didnt decide to go with Batman Wired, it would be so stupid for Batman to wear a high tech bat suit.

If the intent is to sell more action figures, the Wired would;ve been perfect. As for myself, bring on the classic Bat!

So, will it be semi-based on the sublime Batman: Year One comics? That would be so badass if it had the Roman and a Lieutenant James Gordon just starting out in Gotham, and Selina starting out as Catwoman(though obviously she couldn't be a prostitute in a kid's show)...and they could pick up where that series left off with the first appearance of the Joker.

As long as it has Kevin Conroy, though, I'm there. That man IS Bruce Wayne, IMO.
