Kamakura & Night Creeper IN HAND!

Well guys, I got mine in from Hong Kong today, and are they sweet! :)- Most of the problems that were shown in the preproduction figures were addressed before actual production figures were shot at us. They did away with the joint at mid-thigh (shown in early protos) and used the traditional (for JvC) elbow joint instead of the one they used on Depth Charge (swivel-pin type shown in early prototype pics). The quality is very high in paint detail and mold detail. They have been adjusted as far as the "buck" (standard heighth) is concerned. The proportions are still a little off as far as Kamakuras' neck length and shoulder thickness (for want of a better term) go, and the forearms are on the long side for the NC  . NC also suffer from what I like to call the Flint syndrome, just a bit. Smallish waist + shortish torso + longish thighs = Zartan style wobble-waist @*- . Granted, I am being VERY finicky, but without having pics, I am trying to give you guys an accurate idea. On a final note, they both play *cough  *, I mean pose-up very well, and look good doing it (it helps hide their flaws). NC can do the 2-handed grip on his sword :o (naughty) very well. BTW, don't lose Kamakuras' small dagger in your rush to open this 2-pack up! Overall, a solid 8 out of 10! :)- Will post pics as soon as I get the digi-cam, transfer, and send pics to your friend & mine, Tom-1!

People were wondering about Night Creeper's long "monkey arms",I think it's so he can have that 'two-handed grip' pose as easily as you claim the figure can have it.The mass-production version of the figure has looked leaner and meaner than the prototype, but I do have to say that I'm disappointed that he suffers from the same problems that the Zartan mold does in terms of the torso-in-the-waistpiece...looks like JvC can't escape the beergut look just yet. :-?

Now THAT'S the new two-pack I'm looking forward to! I love the concept behind Kamakura, and I never had any original Night Creepers. So I'm very excited about this set. :D

That's no excuse. RAH figure could hold that sword two-handed. His arms are longer because, for some reason beyond my comprehesion, they are designed so they can't rest fully at their sides. Why is that?!?

IF you have some muscle to you your arms don't rest at your size. MY arms are definatly not at my sides and I haven't even lifted a weight in too months (but push-ups are still good!)

But some of them go to far (like se) and they should be the same amont on each side (stormy and ripper)

That is... like... the most extreme cases, man. You can have decent muscle mass and be able to touch your elbow to your sides. None of the Joes or Cobras are professional body builders, so don't give me that. If it were just a small.... handful of figures, it could be overlooked as a touch of realism. But it is NOT. I don't know of any figure that can fully rest their arms at their sides. Ripper's is close, one arm can, while the other can not. But that's about it.

And on top of that, don't gimme the realism bit anyway. Playability should not be sacrificed for this small, inaccurate touch of realism. And the figure should not be further compromised by having inordinately long forearms.

I"m no huge body builder and my elbows can't touch without force. I just played football and I'm sure this guys are at least as buff as a highschool athelete huh?

But some of em go to far like i've said. Add to that list wave one 1 duke. There correct amount would be more like shipwreck, his left arm, wich is a little closer.

Why is that?!?

I think that's the first time I ever saw 8S use a "!" and a "?" in conjunction with each other... almost like he lost his temper... :o Very uncharacteristic of the guy IMO.

Anyway, you guys are arguing what ONE of you can do in real life, and what the OTHER can do. GI Joes should be able to put their arms at their sides. It's THAT simple.

I wouldn't say that. More like exasperation, and the disbelief as to why this practice continues and the logic behind it. Especially at the cost of playability... and with the solution distorting the resemblance of the figure to an actual human being. Trust me, I don't loss sleep over JvC inadequacies, if I did, I'd be dead in two weeks; or is lack of sleep for a week equal death?

The questions continue.... hmm.... :-?

Just an update guys. I was play...um, posing them up for display, and noticed that NC's shins were on the WRONG legs. @WTF@ The upper thighs and feet were correct, but not the lower legs. Weird. @*- I remember seeing this same QC problem in the early JvC figures, namely Snake Eyes biceps being on the wrong sides, and consequently backwards. Again, weird. @*-

I got the same bicep problem with Snakeeyes!! I think someone fell asleep on the assembly line.

Anyway, the great thing about the Night creeper is its parts are great for customizing. @stone@
