All good things come to an end -

Hey guys,

Most people tend to think fantasy, in any variety, lives forever. The same could be said for GI Joe - that the story will just keep going as long as Hasbro wants it to, and continued in the minds of it's fans, young and old. And maybe what sweetens the deal is that companies that sell story-driven toy lines such as GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, ect, we are rarely given the luxury of an 'ending'. Nothing that ties all the loose ends together and sends our heros and villians off into the sunset...

So... if you had to... how would GI Joe end?

For me, it would have to be the end all conflict. Cobra would have to do something so horrible and bold, I can't even imagine what it could be. But the worst part would be, it woldn't be like their old plans, where they raise an island from the sea or brainwash a town... real world conquest would have to be in their grasp. It's what they've been working towards for the whole series, and that deserves to be made a potential danger.

It would have to be a race to stop Cobra once and for all, with enough twists to make a box full of pretzels feel unworthy  Character death would be a must (Because hey, no threat of death, no danger. No danger, no worry. No worry, no surprise.) and as Star Wars/MOTU/ cowboy gunfight it must sound, I'd say Duke/Hawk and CC would have to finally have at it. The two 'faces' of their respective teams put in a position where only the other could determine the fate of the world.

Also, I would make Destro have a change of heart (Or at least conscience) and assist the Joes in every measure possible towards the end, totally blowing Cobra out of the water... and thus, the panic./danger element is instilled for the Cobra fans :)-

If it was gonna end i would need two know quite a bit in advance to do it.

It would be as tom said but first many things would lead up to it. Cobra actuatly gaining some land again.

Cobra cells openlying performing terrorist acts in america.

Stormy dies to save Snake eye's life.

Lady J is killed by Cc himself. Causing Flint to go into overdrive and head off.

Scarlett would have to cheat on se with duke. So in the last moments he could forgive her and die for her anyways.

I too would give destro and even ww some nobility, but they would meet their ends.

I would trigger it all of by cc learning he had a fatal uncurable disease.

In the end alot of damage would be done, lots of death, but the last scene would be an unmasked commander's dead body, and a suriving joe holdin up the flag.

Cobra Commander and Duke would die falling off a cliff on top of a Cobra Mountian base. Then Scarlett could yell DUKE!!! and they could show him falling in slow motion. :)- How would Cobra Lose.... well I guess after Cobra Commander dies Cobra could just retreat and Destro could Disband them. Cobra is just a bunch of Mortgage Bankers, and Lawyers anyway  I am sure they would do fine :)- .

For Cobra to end... There'd have to be descent inside Cobra's chain of command... And by descent, I mean not the same kind that involved Billy shooting his dad... the kind that is all out mutiny... Maybe if you're lucky, Storm Shadow would "accidently" kill Cobra Commander when attempting to stop an assassin...?

The way the for Cobra to ALMOST take over the world would most likely come in the holding of the U.N. and actually assassinating leaders as their demands were not met. Of course they could always use a nuke...

Low-Light gets Cobra Commander in his sights and blows his head off.

Cobra splits up into numerous splinter groups. This causes the Joes to break into smaller units to take them out.

Then Golobulus returns and unifies Cobra. This is when I stop collecting Joes, win the lottery and marry Trish Stratus.

i see the ending being this...

cobra commander finally realizes that he can not take over the world. in a last ditch effort he decides that if he cant control it, he will destroy it.

he creates an elaborate plan so even his henchmen dont know what his real plans are,

destro descovers the true plans and knowing he can not sell weapons if the planet is destroyed contacts the joe team to help prevent the commanders plans.

the joes go on an all alert status and hit cobra hard...the clock is ticking.

cobra and joe both take a no prisoners mentallity and the death toll begins to rise.

at the cobra temple a handful of joe agents invade (duke, scarlett, snake eyes, flint lady jaye)

as the battle rages on snake eyes and scarlett are seperated from the others...and surrounded by hordes of vipers the camera or comic panel would pull away as the two of them start the hand to hand combat...*knowing they are over whelmed

flint and lady jaye would find the weapon control panel and begin to disarm it. and duke would be looking for the the hooded one to make sure his threat is ended once and for all.

as flint and lady jaye fight off and try to figure out how to stop the device..they realize that the only way to stop the destruction is to destroy it before it can be armed. without the right equipment, and only one hand grenade left. and tons of forces storming the door. the couple share a kiss...pull the pin and hold hands as the doomsday weapon explodes...

the temple is rocked and vipers are fleeing left and right. duke walks to the main chamber to find it open and unguarded . the commander sits in ceremonial attire. his sceptor in hands. duke walks in... the commander offers him to sit and have a drink. monitors showing the destruction of the temple from several cameras.

the commander explains why he created cobra and how the joe team has been a worthy advisary. Duke tells the commander that the game is over the doomsday device has been destroyed. the commander laughs at his final defeat. and pulls his hood off to reveal his face to duke. the arch way collapses the dust and fire kick up and duke turns to escape.

he reaches the outer door and sees the remaining forces taking cobra prisoners, lifeline approaches him and tells him the that casualty rate is staggering..duke looks at the figures over his shoulder snake eyes emerges from the collapsed structure carrying the body of scarlett. the end

If Gi Joe was gonna end (which it never will, or least in my mind)

Cobra would get corrupt and cobra commander would lose his power and would be overtaken by CopperHead, Copperhead when then turn Cobra over to the good side, as for the Joes Beachhead would become in command, and Cobra and Gi Joe become Best Friends and live happly ever after :)- :)-

I'd basiclly end it with a big ass battle with joes and Cobras dropping left and right. However the scene of the battlefeild wouldn't be some Cobra base but in an American city(I was thinking of something like the opening of G.I.Joe the movie but on a much larger scale). In the end the joes(with lots of backup)just barely emerge victorious. However the series would end with 13 joes left(and none of them would be Snake-eyes who was taken out early in the fight).

Good thread!!

For my idea, this is kind of ignoring the Devil's Due comics. It's how I kind of imagined a new start-up to be, and that the DD comics were not.

Cobra Commander has been laying low, waiting for the opportunity to strike. This time there will be no strange technological devices, no disease strains, no mind control, no laser satelite outer space rocket beam contraptions. This time, Cobra is going to launch a worldwide barrage of terrorism all across the globe.

During the "downtime," Cobra Commander has used his various connections to set up Cobra recruitment and training centers all over the globe, including all known Cobra affliations such as Zartan's Dreadnoks, Destro and his Iron Grenadiers, Major Bludd's Python Patrol, the Black Dragon organization, and of course the highly-trained Crimson Guard. While more high-profile companies such as Extensive Enterprises and Arbco no longer exist on paper, various illegal cash-flow tactics are still very much insuring Cobra's vitality.

The nations' governments have discovered many of these Cobra training facilities from various intelligence sources, but fearing such a huge retaliation, as well as public backlash, they in a sense turn a blind eye. Instead, they wait for Cobra to make the first move, confident that the world's military powers and threat of nuclear attack will force Cobra into submission.

Meanwhile, many former G.I. Joe team members are trying to lead normal lives, raise families, work at jobs, and in a sense try to have some normalcy after years and years of withstanding brutal military confrontations with Cobra and other terrorist organizations. Many still have military jobs, but rarely do any of them participate in any batte field situations. Many are convinced that if the "play by the rules," they can one day affect some change. Others have turned to politics. Still others . . . chefs, musicians, pastors, teachers, software designers. Flint, Lady Jaye, Roadblock, Duke, Scarlett . . . these code-names are no longer mentioned.

But in spite of outward appearances of leading otherwise normal lives, these "retired" Joe members still have trouble sleeping at night, and are almost constantly having to remind themselves that Cobra is still out there, and it is only a matter of time before they come out of the woodwork. These soldiers who once used brilliant military tactics, state-of-the-art weaponry, and unparalelled bravery to defend freedom for all human kind now feel powerless.

They have not, or will ever allow themselves to "retire," but there can be no G.I. Joe team without recognition from the world's governments, and especially sponsorship and the military funding that comes along with it. According to the powers that be, the world has no need for G.I. Joe. It can take care itself . . . So our heroes can only feel their hearts sink everytime they turn on the evening news, or catch a glimpse of the morning paper: "10 Dead in Embassy Bombing" "34 Dead, Hundreds Injured in Terrorist Attack" "Third World Leader Assassinated in As Many Months"

They feel powerless . . .

. . . other former G.I. Joe team members, on the other hand, refuse to sit back and watch.

Beach-Head, for one, has never stopped. In the interim, he has formed a hand-picked and personally trained squad of soldiers who make up a covert counter-terrorist "guerilla" force which pops up around the world. No one is ever able to trace their whereabouts, and no one is ever able to anticipate their attacks. Governments are reduced to clean-up crews in their wake. All that each nation's police forces can do is arrive with body-bags to carry away the remains of tyrannical leaders, terrorist cell directors, corporate book cookers, and underground medical "professionals".

It goes without saying that not everyone (especially many Joe members themselves) agrees with these tactics, but there's nothing anyone can do.

. . . elsewhere, others prepare for the inevitable in more peaceful ways.

In some unknown corner of Asia, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow have recently added another wing to their facilities, to accomodate the more than 300 and counting "disciples" who have come to live, meditate, and train there. If it weren't for Snake Eyes' excrutiating daily military combat training and the various firing ranges, one could very well mistake it to be your run-of-the-mill monastery. No one . . . not Scarlett, not anyone . . . has any way of contacting them.

They wait, but they will be ready, and they will know when they are needed . . .

Then one day . . . it happens. Total global chaos. Entire cities suddenly collapse like an old house eaten from the inside by termites. Utter panic is in almost every major metropolitan area all around the world. The skies are filled with insect swarms of Rattlers. Crimson Guard troops march through streets. HISS tanks hold downtown centers frozen in a grip of fear. Vipers scour every small midwestern town; every remote village; confiscating hidden weapons caches from the world's militia groups. Casualties are in the millions. A billion draft letters are sent out, but for what good? Military plans are frantically thrown together, and then scrapped altogether. Cobra's forces are entrenched among the citizenry of the globe. How do you stage a military campaign against the entire world's population?

To be continued . . .

Nice....

The key elements that have to be included (some of you have already mentioned) in order for it to be a true end game.

1. Cobra must be at its peak of power as must the United States.

2. Cobra should have land, and portions of the world aiding it

3. Main characters must die, no other way

4. Cobra must have a devestating weapon. I would think more in the way of several Hydrogen bombs given to them by rogue states.

5. Cobra must succeed partially in destroying countries (drop a bomb on England, wipe out the entire west coast). Hey, I'd actually cheer if California goes under. Even assasinate the President and drive the world leaders into hiding

6. joe must be dealt a fatal blow that almost no one could recover from.

7. An ultimate battle with both leaders dying. A United world against a common threat. The poetic place would have to be the field of Megiddo. In the book of Revelation, that is where supposedly the final battle between good and evil shall take place. "and he gathered them in a place called Armageddon." "He who controls Jerusalem in the last days...shall rule the world."

8. I wanted to add this: Joe Colton comes back (only to die with Duke).

9. Turncoats would be nice because this would be the point of no return. I would give more saving grace to both Baroness and Destro. They trully love eachother and with love, there is some good.

:D great topic TOM!

i see the ending being this...

cobra commander finally realizes that he can not take over the world. in a last ditch effort he decides that if he cant control it, he will destroy it.

:o wow! and you know what, that's how i would see it ending as well.

CC is suicidal and depressed because of his numerous failed attempt to conquer the world and doubts his self worth. but than he realizes it isn't him who's failed but the world for not recognizing him as the true leader of the planet. it's time they've been taught a lesson.

in a secrete lab he has been regrowing those spores (from g.ijoe the movie) until they were enough to cover the planet. this time the spores were made to be lethal and didn't need the B.E.T but would erupt before they even left the atmosphere! a fallout shelter has been made for Cobra Commander and 50,000 of cobra troops and there family's so they may rebuild the world in his image.

fast foward to a bigass battle with

with Flint killing Destro

Storm Shadow killing Spirit and Jinx at the same time

Snakeyes than finds Stormshadow and they kill each other, only because Spirit cut one of SS's arm off before the fight 8)

Zartan kills Chuckles and than escapes

Roadblock and Gung-ho take out all the dreadnoks except the original 3 who decide to sneak off and abandon the rest

Scarlet and LadyJay kill Tomax and Xamot

Duke of course kills CC but only after he presses the launch button for the spores! :o

I'm not exactly sure how I'd want GI Joe to end, however, I do like the idea of Low-Light snipin' CC, since LL's my favorite character. 8)

I do know, this would have something to do with my end of GI Joe though:

So many good ideas already :D Basically,I agree with most of the credentials that Cobra is at the peak of their power, but I'd like something of Cobra at the advantage, just about to win,all hope seems lost until there's one last daring assault by G.I. Joe...typical movie stuff.I also see CC's death as somewhat like Joker's from the Batman movie. It's nothing overly gory or violently depicted, maybe even the whole 'zoom-in-on-CC's face-in-shock-as-his-own-missile-is-rerouted-back-to-him' kinda thing. But yes, major characters have to die,I'd even maybe leave CC's 'death' skeptical...like there's no sign of a body, but if it is 'The End',then yes, find the body.

Oh yes and since they didn't do it in the GI Joe movie...DUKE MUST DIE! :fire:

jesus christ force hunter you are turning this into a biblical prophecy  i was just thinking more of a good comic story line

I have to agree with Marty here... Cobra Commander is a modern man who wants realistic plans and results. Prophecies, no matter how mainstream, wouldn't interest him. He's the personality type that would check "Steal a stereo" rather than "Listen to music" on a 'What would you rather do' survey.
