Why is this toyline releasing so slowly?

Recommended Posts

Maybe becoz playmates are still testing how well the toys can be sold. After all TMNT have been forgotten quite a time and they need to make sure they can still make money and then they will made a big plan and big money!

I think there holding back toys as to not create an overflow of crap on the shelfs all at once. + there holding out for the new waves/toon for around xmas season so the kidies will get all hyped into it & put many a turtle items ont here list

Have patience! There will be lots to come. Summer months are always the slow part of the year for toys. There are no new eps on tv and alot of people have better things to do. Once school starts again, retail picks up and toy companies try and take advantage. Things will start to pop up after that as well as the new eps bringing the excitement level back up again. It's all about marketing and sales figures.

Put it this way if another couple waves come out before December, that will be quite a few figs released over the year.

Wave 1: 7 figs

Wave 2: 3 figs

Wave 3: 4 figs (xtreme turtles)

Plus all the role playing stuff, the 3 vehicles released, a massive playset, and the mini's. Add on a couple more waves and we have a grand total of approx. 20 figs in one year, 4-5 vehicles, a playset and tons of other stuff. Not too bad if you ask me.

Oh, and to add to my last post. Playmates does a very good job of getting their product on the shelves. Unlike *cough* Mattel *cough* Motu.

So when the new waves come out you can go into a store and buy everything you need (The way it should be). Other lines, not mentioning names, have such rare figures that you spend the whole 2-3 months between waves looking for them.

Just my 2 cents :)

In my opinion thats just one of the reasons it seems like such a gap between waves.

Interesting that you mention that, Hendog. The first thing I thought of earlier in the thread was Mattel and the MOTU line. Horrible production methods, bad marketing, and a sorry website (just for kicks). How many He-Mans are there out there? Skeletors? Ok....now tell me how many Evil-Lyns there are. Teelas?

Hmmm.

Exactly CkRtech. I just hope that the new case ratios help out with things. Hopefully its not too late! I don't want to be looking for Evil-Lyn for 6 months and end up resorting to Ebay.

And about Teela, don't get me started. That whole wave was skipped in Canada, so we didn't even get her. Now thats a great demonstration of brilliant marketing from Mattel!

Dude, that sucks!! If there were some more around here, I would be happy to help out the northern neighbors....but I can't find a Teela or Evil-Lyn around Texas either! @*-

Nothing has turned up in Australia as far as MotU figures goes. And we only recently got the first wave of TMNT. Don't know how long it will be before I can get my hands on a Casey Jones, if he's even worth it. The pics I've seen didn't inspire me with much confidence, but I'll reserve final judgement for when it turns up.

Well, I guess it depends how much you critique your toys. I have Casey and think he's a sweet addition to the lineup. They are toys and I treat them as such, so I enjoy it alot more. If I want to get something pinpoint accurate, thats what they have statues and stuff for.

I just find that if I were to find a flaw in every action figure, I would have a list as big as a phone book and I would never be happy.

But IMO, I think Casey is a good figure to get, as well as Hun and April. So I would grab them when they make it over there. They havn't actually made it to Canada either, I just happened to pick them up one weekend on a trip to the US. I think the States is the only place that has wave 2 already.

I have a Teela MOC that I really need to get rid of. I'd let it go for reasonable. Like retail value of $8 and shipping, however much that is.

Thanks for the offer HMI, but I ended up getting a loose Teela a little while ago from a fellow board member. It's too bad cause I would have way rather bought a MOC one too. :(
