GIJoe: Marvel/Your favorites..ô,ô

I was thinking of a good thread to make in the Joe forum, since this forum is the reason I have been here for 2 years.

Well what I want to ask you fellas is. (Guessing that most of you have read the Marvel GIJOE comic). Which issue of the old Marvel Joe comic was your favorite and why is it your favorite? Just give a brief summary of the issue and why you liked it.

My favorite GIJOE issue was GIJoe:Special Missions #22. The Joes that were in the issue were Lady Jaye,Chuckles,Shockwave, and Hit & Run.

I just believed this comic was kickin' rad was because I believe it was the debut issue of Shock and Hit&Run. Plus the story in which the joes were trying to overcome a hostage situation. But throughout the whole issue you think the bad guys are actually the good guys and then it trips you out at the end. The highlight character in the story for me was Shockwave..when I read the issue for the first time, I branded Shockwave as my favorite joe and not just the reason he is a man in a mask :D

So for the guys out there, what was your favorite issue??

My favorites were the earlier issues, when it was still basically a military comic and they didn't have any goofy ninja stuff. I liked issue 3 the most when they had to destroy the Cobra Battle Robot before it could give away the PIT's location.

that's a difficult question to answer. there are so many really good issues that it's really hard to pick any one, or even a particular arc for that matter. I think that all in all I like the Cobra civil war the best as that was about the highlight of when I was collecting joes as a kid.

I can't find any of those anywhere... Which is why I was so disappointed when they stopped reprinting the old issues...

My favorite was probably issue 3 as well. One of the most refreshing issues ever, on how the Joes had to do their job.

Mine too. I liked the comics right up until around mid-1987.

Favorite issue by far is #53. "PIT Fall". Hawk, Gen Hollingsworth, Adm. Ryan, and Gen Dyson defend the PIT against CC, Destro, Serpentor and a BAT army. At the end they defeat Cobra by blowing up the PIT.

Outstanding issue.

Hey Kost (its Calibretto from Ult GIJOE)

Agreed, I believe issue 53 was a great one. It showed that even the those generals were once soldiers and they fought off Cobra single handedly(sorta)

To see good characters actually die in a comic is a rarity, it was nice to see some change.

Just one thing I had to point out though, Kost, its General Ryan and Admiral Dyson. You had it switched but I am sure you knew the real way it was

Issue #21 is the Silent Issue, right? Been awhile since I've seen it. Anyways,I'll go with that one. Best part was seeing Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow's tattoo. I was like "hmm...I wonder what that's all about?"

I was really into the issues(the #s escape me) where Stalker, Snow Job and some others were taken hostage. It was gripping. Also, issues, oh, 107 or 108 through the end of the storyline with all the Joes that got killed. I guess I like the issues that show the team being really tried, not only physically but also mentally/emotionally. It made them more real for me. I mean, hell, they made a guy like Coolbreeze...well, cool.

Nik,

How's it going? Long time.

I had a feeling that I switched the names. I didn't have the issue in front of me and was too lazy to go get it. I figured someone would correct me.

Anyway, I agree with your points. I liked the fact that at the beginning of the issue you quickly had this hatred of Ryan and thought Dyson was a moron and then they both sacrificed themselves for the others. Just an outstanding issue. Plus being a Hawk fan, I think that was one of his finest hours.

Hey, hope to see you back over at Ultimate soon, things are getting kicked back up.

As a kid the one issue that I could never find was issue # 10, so for a very long time I was desperate to find out what happened in the issue. The cover was great as the idea of "Springfield" was brilliant.

After that issue #34 is one of my favorites along with # 31 and # 53. # 49 and # 50 are classics too.

It's hard to choose just 1....

Those issue numbers were 61-67. #67 was when they were being reacquinted with the GIJoe team. The team members that were on the mission were Snow Job, Quìck Kick, Outback, and Stalker. Everyone except Outback was captured was because Stalker gave orders to Outback to leave and to tell the Joe team what happened. I believe you know the rest 8)

Issue #58. 8)

This issue is all-around awesome. It's the debut of Dusty and Mainframe (not sure about Mainframe, but I think so)... and they both kick so much @$$ it's not funny. 8) There's so much character development... not only as a result of how Dusty and Mainframe handle dangerous situations, but how they react with each other and Rashid, the little arab boy who follows them around. I just love how Rashid thinks Mainframe is such a weenie just because he works with computers, and then Mainframe proves him completely wrong. @hahaha@ And of course, the three pages with Dusty and the bandits is great. I love it. :)- On top of all that, it's a relatively self-contained issue... but still ties into the bigger story arc with the Cobra Commander/Fred VII parts.

On that note, it always irritated me how the Dusty and Mainframe story took up so many more pages than the CC/Fred half of the story in the comic... yet you see CC on the cover. :x And it really irks me to see how Mainframe has been treated in the new DD GI Joe run...I think giving him that stupid neon blue armor crap is really insulting to him as a soldier and experienced veteran. He deserves better than that. :x

...But I digress. Issue 59 of the original Marvel run rocks, and that's all there is to it. ;):)-
