Ya know...not to turn this into another JvC sucks thread, but I agree with Doc. Hasbro has not lived up to what it achieved in the past. If you dig back through the topics from about a year ago, you'll see that I supported JvC very strongly, with the hope that Hasbro would eventually bring the line up to par with RAH. However, that has not happened, and I have lost faith in Hasbro. They pretty much brought an end to my Star Wars collecting with the Saga line, and have almost accomplished the same with GI Joe when it comes to the new stuff. I have lost interest in both lines due to the lack of originality and quality.

and i'm slowly following behind you.. my situation is a little diffrent though, i actualy hated JVC with a passion and couldn't believe the crap i was seeing. but after spy troops, i started to get into the line a little and saw a tiny glimmer of hope and say "what the hell, atleast we got G.ijoes". but now i see these diaper crotches and elbow joints that totaly look ridiculous and i'm starting to feel that old feeling of disgust again. it's just that the cool figures are too far in between to keep me intrested long enough to get into JVC. and i believe Fred was joking but i know there's alot of people that feel like Doc is always negative. those people clearly never read his post or understand them. if they did, they would know how Doc. they would know he's somebody that isn't afraid to speak his mind. he likes what he likes and what he doesn't he doesn't. it's not about being negative, it's about giving a damn about something and taking pride in yourself and your beliefs. it's also about taking pride in what you spend your money on, if you truly don't like something why would you buy it just because of the name? i've been guilty of that myself lately which is kinda dumb when you think about it. :-? i've been settling for something i knew could be better just for name sake. if these weren't "g.ijoes", just a new military toy, there's no way in hell i would have bought even one of these figures.

 

now back to the new SS and SE:

 

i am suprised how good these guys look considering JVC's 12" history. i love SS but i hope they put something on his chest. SE swords are a little to fight but i'm glade they deciding to put him back into his body suite. i wonder if SS is gonna have his clan tattoo on his arm. :-?

anyway, about those figures. yeah, most of the 12" rah and jvc figures have sucked, mainly on account of bad uniforms and accesories. the headsculpts and some of the base bodies are salvageable and sometimes even good. simple modifications can make them good figures. here's what i did to my original jvc snake eyes.

 

 

 

i'll be getting the new ones. they look fine the way they are to me. but, maybe a few modifications and additions i can do will make them a bit better, i'll see when i get them. 8)

p.s. tommy goth, i totally agree with you. i couldn't love toys to this day if it wasn't because of that kid in me that just loves toys period. and because of that also, i enjoy all the toys i collect so much. there's always things that could be better, but hey, in my world, i take what i can get and make the most of it.

yeah Diesel, great point. i did the same thing to my SE. it's not as cool as yours but i think it's a big improvement than what they gave us.

Well, guess I'll be the holdout this time.

 

I really don't like either of those figures. Maybe my deep-set aversion for Snake-Eyes has something to do with it, but I usually don't let my preferences for the cartoon/comic storylines influence what toys I buy. (Except for Dusty. Shut up. :lol: ) I agree that this SE is better than before, but I still think as a whole it's a pretty mediocre figure. Storm Shadow's design is painfully plain and his hood design looks awfully goofy to me. :-? But hey, whatever, if you like them, buy them! You'll get a free DVD out of it too.

 

Also, in general, I haven't seen a 12" figure I really thought was decent (except this new Flint one, perhaps). The fact that they all look like they're incredibly hyped up on steriods annoys/bothers me, among other things. :x Like crappy accessories, etc. But wow, Diesel, that Snake-Eyes you posted pictures of is awesome. 8)

 

(And yes, I have a 12" Dusty... but that's only because I'm such a mark for Dusty stuff. :oops: I don't think his 12" GvC figure is that great, either.)

While I think theyre alright, and I might not mind owning them, I still have to say that theyre going to be very low down on my list of priorities. My funds are ,limited and theres a bunch of stuff Id rather have like RAH Re-issues

by the way, that boris figure you got (the guy in the brown coat next to bbi scar), you ever notice his headsculpt bears a striking resemblance to arnold. might make a good base figure to make a custom terminator 1 arnold. 8)

wow!! those are soooo freakin awesome!! were do you get all your accessories from?:-? sometimes i get lucky and find them at comic shops and conventions but usualy i have to buy a whole figure if i just want to use his pants, which can get real expensive fast. i just realy got into 12" figures and i'm totaly hooked on the accessories and detail of realism they put into most of them. i just won this on ebay:

this cyborg underneath is suppose to come with a gattling gun!

i can't wait until they come in!- BTW, i've been looking for the 21rst century mad bomber for the longest, do you know were i can find him? :-?

The Takara/BBI stuff is EXCELLENT! I have a couple of their Cy-Girls (have yet to pick up a Cy-Borg :/ ) and the detail and quality are excellent, especially if you get the optional die-cast weapons packs. This is what Hasbro should be doing with the 12" Joes.
