A theory about the so called "Diaper Crotches"

I was looking at my GvC Beachead v2, in preparation to turn him into a Cobra Soldier , when I noticed that the back of his crotch piece looks very similar to the front of the crotch pieces shown in wave 7.

 

and then it hit me......

 

 

What if for the test shot we see on EE, the crotch pieces were turned around accidentally or on purpose (Canary Trap) and it was never caught in time?

 

There may have been a huge deal made of nothing..... :lol:

yeah i also figured out something, in the comic #2 that came with some JvC i noticed the figures it showed pictured in it had the huge crotch, but when they were released they had the regular crotch.

 

So those could just be prototypes!

 

but we will probably find out the truth at the convention.

The legs are still too widely set apart to be simply reversed crotches... This HAS to be something new... something awful :evil:

also the pics that hasbro had also shown for wave 7, still showed the figures with the huge crotches, so i dont think they accidently switch the crotch around.

Basically, yes. It may have been a prototype, but due to some constraint, it *may* have been put together incorrectly. Remember, they've done this before.

 

I still say those look like the backs and NOT the fronts. I'm convinced that's the case. If I'm wrong, then.....

 

We'll only know the truth when we see the figures in package, later this summer.

Rumor has it those figures will be released as you see in the piics. Check Sarge's board for more info. So I believe it's pretty much a sure thing.

Just like Night Creeper said,everyone who has it,check out the poster that came with JvC Comic #2,the story about Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow.On the other side,we know it has images of the figures,this time the GI Joe side,but if you look closely enough...some of the figure are INDEED sporting the "diaper crotch",and these figures were NEVER released with the diaper crotch,from this I think we can draw some conclusions.Either these diaper crotches are simply some type of "prototype" crotches,perhaps used in place of the O-Ring/T-Hook crotches because to put them together,it can be annoying at times...so to perhaps simplify the matter,they got simpler crotches for a few prototypes OR that Hasbro wants to use a new crotchpiece for the Joes (though I have seen a crotchpiece like this used already by some McFarlane figures) that retains the motion and movement of the O-Ring,without the rubber band inside.It could be that they're just trying to use an O-Ring formula...without the O-Ring.

Guys im tellin ya,these are the figures used for photo's and taking around like conventions and such! they are not made of plastic its some kinda brittle resin stuff! and it breaks easy! they probably added more to the crotch area cause thats what breaks the the most. often these figure get damaged and repaired on the spot! with glue and tape and sh!t the figures we get will not be that bad! and made of nice flexible JvC plastic! :wink: we'll find out in a few weeks i guess! then we'll know who is right,and who is dead!........ i hope i'm right?

I think we all speculate to much. What ever happens, happens. Maybe Hasbro thought we didn't have enough to drive ourselves nuts over so they made the crotches like that to bug us. Maybe not.

Yes you do.

 

The "Backside" looks very similar to some of the "Frontsides" in the pics from EE and other sources. Beachhead is how I noticed it.

Aside from complaints of collectors alike,I'm sure if Hasbro goes with this crotch design,don't be surprised if you find some parents complaining to Hasbro in regards to this new crotch design...I'm almost expecting it.

I seriously doubt the "flipped around" theory, because if so, why are the front belt buckles molded on the backsides? You're assuming a MAJOR screw up, one that GvsC has YET to even come CLOSE to touching yet.

 

I think this is a new thing they're trying. They do this. Look at the various arm constructions lately . . . look at Depth Charge's entire body construction. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but this time it looks like total @$$ (no pun intended :wink: ) and I really hope this one comes back and bites Hasbro's.

 

The real clincher will be DDD's explanation. That should be classic.

It's sad too...just when JvC seems to at least be settling down for a good,solid physical overall design for the molds (as in the structure of the figures),Hasbro INSISTS on trying new,stupid,and UNNEEDED additions! They should be spending their money on getting some names back rather than giving a Night Creeper a jock strap.
