Has anyone seen this mini series lately? I downloaded most of it (I need part 2 and 4) and just wondering how everyone liked it. I was kind of curious as to why.... they used Strato Vipers against Slaughter? Pilots don't fight do they? Oh yeah... the BATS, how can Slaughter destroy 20 BATS by himself? I think Slaughter is on drugs.....

I thought it was typical GI Joe animated fair with the usual implausable science (DNA being somehow able to store memories and skills) and hammy voice acting. Slightly better than Pyramid of Darkness. It makes you wonder how CC got put in charge of Cobra at all if he was really as incompetent as they portrayed him in this miniseries

Presumably they can. I think almost ALL Cobra personanel start out being trained as Vipers before undergoing their specialty training, and they all get taught the basics by Big Boa. I doubt Cobra would hire anyone who couldnt hold their own. As to WHY? Probably to pimp the figure, which was also the REAL reason Cobra Commander attacked with the STUNS

Overhyping on the part of the writers. Hasbro blew big bucks to get the rights to use the fat balding loudmouth, (For his fine acting skills presumably) and they want to make it loud and clear how invaluable he is to the Joes to justify the expenditure. And he thinks he can order Hawk around later

The Stratos Vipers are geneticlly engineered. So maybe they thought that they could fight the Sarge better. I don't know. Althought the fact it was a new character didn't discourage them from showing him off.

true, but I noticed they did have one Viper in that battle.

Strato Vipers went through operations and procedures to increase their ability to pilot the Night Raven and other challenging air vehicles. They would likely be less of a threat to any GI Joe than say, a Rock Viper or Snow Serpent who go through specialized combat training.

Alley Vipers and Rock Vipers came out to late to be in the Sunbow episodes, but they were in the DIC episodes along with SAW Viper, Undertow, Laser Vipers, CGI, and Desert Scorpions.

Hey! The Sarge is a national hero! And my personal hero to boot! The man was a big time wrestler, has gotten who knows how much money to go towards orphanages, THE AMERICAN FLAG HAS BEEN FLOWN IN HIS HONOR NUMEROUS TIMES AT THE WHITEHOUSE, and the man is the physical represntation of the American Way. Sure, he may be over weight and balding, but if there is a list of men who can honestly be called American heroes, He should be on there. Sgt. Slaughter, I SALUTE YOU!

Personally, I love Arise, Serpentor, Arise. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was a kid, and thinking how cool Sgt. Slaughter was! I don't think so highly of him now, but I still like his character within the Joe universe.

*Scratches my head*

You'd consider Sgt. Slaughter an actual American hero?

Do you consider Spam the solution to world hunger as well?

I actually liked the Sarge in the miniseries...but to compare him along side the Washingtons, the Lincolns, and the countless number of actual US troops...well, it's kinda funny.

If he actually has served the country like Jesse Ventura did, among others, then I'll admit that he does deserve that spot.

I mean...just because Hacksaw Jim Duggan waved his flag around for 25 years while wearing bikini briefs doesn't make him a national hero too, does it?

I loved Sgt. Slaughter in The WWF, and didn't mind him being the Joe spokesman, but the cartoon went overboard with him. I remember he took out a screw in the middle of a firefight with his thumb. I was like "wtf?." I can't believe he was considered the greatest warrior over Snake Eyes in the cartoon.

I think so too since Mindbender didn't go after Snakes Eyes DNA.. Cobra went after "THE GREATEST JOE TO EVER LIVE!!! SGT. SLAUGHTER"

I guess he is even better then Flint, and Duke as well?

No!!! :x

Meh, I only saw parts 1, 2 and 5 of "Arise Serpentor Arise" because my stupid VCR screwed up when I was at my friend's beach house for the weekend. >_< I didn't think too much of what I saw, though. Kinda felt like they were "bumping off" lots of the old characters too fast. Yes, I know... "That's the point, it's a 22-minute toy commercial" and all that, but still. :P A perfect example would be how Hawk busts in and just starts ordering everybody around, and how Serpentor just kicks CC out of his top spot. IMO, it's not one of the most horrible [set of] episodes, just kinda mediocre overall.

There was this pretty cool part in episode 2 though. ;) Three Dustys at once!! Hoo-hah!!

IN RESPONSE TO Procko_Zero Prime'S POST

You'd consider Sgt. Slaughter an actual American hero?

YES

Do you consider Spam the solution to world hunger as well?

If used correctly, YES

I actually liked the Sarge in the miniseries...but to compare him along side the Washingtons, the Lincolns, and the countless number of actual US troops...well, it's kinda funny.

If he actually has served the country like Jesse Ventura did, among others, then I'll admit that he does deserve that spot.

Umm, pal, The Sarge WAS IN THE ARMY y'know. He was an actual drill instructor meaning HE TRAINED SOME OF THE FINE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE U.S. ARMY TO FIGHT FOR EVERY AMERICAN.

I mean...just because Hacksaw Jim Duggan waved his flag around for 25 years while wearing bikini briefs doesn't make him a national hero too, does it?

No, thats irrelevent. Just means that Duggan enjoys wearing bikini breifs, making me wonder about him.....

AND NOW MORE ON WHY THE SARGE IS CONSIDERED A NATIONAL HERO AMONG MYSELF AND OTHERS

1)The man has served army time and if you've been in the army and were not given a Section 8 Release or werent kicked out, then you have done a damn good job for your country! That deserves respect right there. I have family who have served in the Army, my grandfather was in the navy under a SeaBees platoon in WW2, and my uncle went to Vietnam. And EVERY ONE OF THEM IS A HERO IN THEIR OWN RIGHT AS THEY FOUGHT AND WORKED DAMN HARD FOR OUR COUNTRY. DISSAGREE WITH ME ON THAT? Tough.

2) The Sarge's unparalled Patriotism. Now that isnt something you see very often these days. YES, I am fully well aware that theSarge was a one-time Iraqi Sympathizer but after his defeat by Hulk Hogan, he rethought the matter and changed his ways. But if there is a man who can honestly support and defend patriotism after all these years, then there is a deal of respect deserved for that man.

3) The man has been invited to the White House by 4 different Presidents as a Honorable Guest for his work for America and his efforts in the war against child diseases.

4) More on his work against disease. He has spent countless hours gathering funds and support for Children Hospitals, other associated organizations, and the Nation Anti-Drug Campaign.

5)And I found this most interesting: Leaving the wrestling wars to step into the corporate battlefields as a spokesperson for the multitudes of organizations is a goal of Sgt Slaughters. His ultimate dream is to have his televised children's program to allow him to continue to be a positive role model for the youth of America, the future of the United States.

NOW after all that, can you honestly tell me that you do not believe Sgt. Slaughter deserves the title of a National Hero? Well I do and if you dont, i'm not going to argue with you. We're all entitled to our own opinion and that what makes America great. The Freedom to make our own decisions and not have to worry about our leaders making them unlawful or otherwise.

Thank-you.

And Bingo was his name-o! Got ya there! Now if we can get back to Arise Serpentor, Arise....

I kinda liked this mini-series, granted that some parts were a little too unbelieveable and the the follow-up in the begining of each ep after #1 made me a bit miffed (The narrator was basically just saying the same thing over and over). But I've allways liked Serpentor so this is one of my fav minis.
