ARRRGH!!!! >_<

For any of you who watched "Satellite Down" Saturday night... it was not really Dusty in that episode... it was his Special Olympics stunt double! I swear!!! :o

Holy crap. "Dusty... it's a bird... it can't answer you..." That's so terrible. :P You shoulda heard me banging my head against the wall... ;)

Yeah, I saw it. I was glad G.I. Joe was part on CN's Saturday Night Action Line-up but was dissapointed in was a goofy one. I wish they'd show some more of the more serious episodes but ya know, its for kids so that wont happen. heheh

Anyone notice how big the chasm was when Lady Jaye was driving on the rope bridge but then how small it was when the bridge layer came? Also since Freedom was knocked out before the ape people took the Joes and Cobra captive back to their village, how did Freedom know where to lead Dusty and Flint to??

After seeing Lady Jaye get turned into a 10 year old and Iceberg getting turned into a whale, I can buy Freedom's innate sense of direction. Its like when they were brainstorming the scripts they probably didnt think too terribly hard about getting past obstacles. Just keep the plot moving no matter HOW weird it gets.

Scripwriter one: "Oh NO! Lady Jaye and Flint were knocked into the lava! How do we get them out?

Scriptwiter Two: "Ummm, make her use a staff that produces a magic bubble that protects them from the lavva"

S1: "WTF? How do they breathe in there?"

S2: "Ah, who cares? The kids are too young to notice. Now dont bogart that mary jane, Ive got a great idea for the Christmas episode featuring a gigantic parrot!"

S1: *Koff koff koff...* "Oh far out..."

But one thing this ep proves is that its easier to showcase more product with a cel cartoon than a GCI one. The Bridgelayer's scene was brief and was used in only one or two episodes, but it got me to buy the toy and THATS the important thing. We'd have simply had the NAC drop them off the other side. Of course by now everyone who would want one has bought it already. ANd theres no way Hasbro would authorize the rendering of something that wasnt going to be used every episode or two. Theyd just say "Make the Sand Razors jump the chasm instead."

The cartoon was badly written but at least it pulled off its function

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the cartoon even today and as Doc points out as a kid it definatly generated excitment in buying the stuff shown in it.

I thought the exact same thing in that Pyramid of Darkness episode. Not min before they got knocked into the lava Destro had to sand off the lava that splashed up on his mask and now her are Flint and Lady J just siting in there taking a swim :)

I want to see that episode where Lifeline goes to his brother's wedding, and him, and his Joe partners go ape$hit after Cobra gives them something. Can someone give me some info...the last time I saw that episode was when USA was showing it back in the early '90s.

I never had the impression in the cartoons that Snake Eyes was a ninja hence it never really occurred to me that he should be the one to battle Stormshadow. Does make you wonder why Stormshadown didn't wipe the floor with Spirit since he was only a scout/tracker specialist.

LOL

Anyhee, I wondered why Spirit and Storm Shadow were always going at it instead of Snake Eyes as well. Probably because Larry Hama didnt really work on the 'toon (I dont think he'd write any of the eps with the alt. universes, whale-transforming-icebergs, ect.) so the writers thought they could do whatever they liked.

Maybe cause Snake-Eyes couldn't talk and would have made the pre-fight tension pretty dumb...

Now Snake-Eyes... I will fight with all my strength and destroy you! What do you have to say about that?

...

So... You think you are better than me and not say anything uh?

...

I haven't touched you and your already scared silent of me!

...

I knew it... Trying to use your silent speak of death on me and it won't work... Prepare to fight!

...

Damn it! Are you ready to die or not?

...

Fine... You bore me with your words... I'm going to go fight Spirit and listen to his words of wisdom!

You generally dont hold lengthy conversations during a fight. Snake-Eyes had some pretty good fights in the comic so it would stand to reason that he would fight well in animation.

And toon Stormy was a double dealing prick. Nothing like Tommy in the comic.

I never uderstood what it was with Spirits overdone "Mystic Native American Warrior" shtick. Bad enough he had to LOOK like a throwback to The Villiage People. But we got that "The weasel farted in the den of the bear" BS as well.

Thats why I liked Bravestarr and John Thunder from Centurions. There was no question these guys were native americans but they talked in COMPLETE SENTENCES. None of that pseudo-metaphysical crap here.
