New Tiger Force FIREFLY not FIREFLY????????

am i the only one that thought the firefly looking figure was firefly?!?!? :-? i just bought the box set and when i got home i started reading the file cards on back and it says his name is a joe named WRECKAGE. i thought well maybe he changed his name when he joined the joe team but when reading his bio it's defiantely not the same character. in a way i'm glade firefly didn't become a joe but i don't like it when they issue repaints and try to pass them off as a diffrent character. i mean they could atleast given him diffrent weapons but they matched everything down to the cell phone. this just seems so "lazy" to me. does anyone else have a problem with this????

Dude, this was known way back at the Joe Con when they had pics of the set and when they released pics throughout the latter part of last year.

I'm GLAD they came out with this figure. Gave him a whole new identity and they used a mold I didn't even get in the RAHC reissues. Wreckage is the best figure in that set, next to Jinx.

And for those that don;t know, back in 1988, when Hasbro first did the Tiger Force subset, they were going to include a repaint of Firefly called Sabretooth.

The figure, along with a Ripcord repaint, never made it to the actual toyline. Derryl DePriest, obviously, knows of this lost member of the Tiger Force team, and made sure he was included in this set, even though Marvel owns the Sabrtooth trademark, and Hasbro can't use the correct name.

It was one of my most wanted figures and i'm glad Hasbro actually released him. Though i wish he looked more like the file card.

Draven

Yea, Wreckage's filecard art looks good, as does Jinx. Both look pretty good in that copper-ry color scheme.

But I think, in the end, they chose the right colors.... black and green, respectively. 'Cause you know they probably would have screwed up the colors of the two cooler figures of the set and make them look like crap. Sometimes, it's OK to play it safe. And this was one instance.

i'll be the first to admit i don't sit on the computer all day tracking down every news on g.ijoe through the whole internet system. i have too much going on for that. most of the news i get is from this forum and well everyone here kept refering to him as as firefly so i assumed that's who he was gonna be. i haven't heard anybody call him Wreckage since i've posted here. i'm not saying no one has but i just never read it.

and i do think it's lazy because they could have atleast took the time out to pick him diffrent weapons. for someone who actually plays with his g.ijoes it makes it very difficult if i want to introduce this team to the rest of the old tiger force and one guy looks exactly like a cobra, see what i'm sayin'? that's why repaints with diffrent identities never fly straight with me. it totally screws up my joe universe

Yes, that's what needs to be done to know what's happening in the Joe world.

But I see what you mean. But this was my first Firefly mold, so I can't share in your dilemma. Research some, next time. The consumer's ultimate weapon.

A little time out of your life to research something you're gonna spend hard-earned cash on is something alot of people should do.

Whether it's toys or a CD burner or a car.

Money is still money. More important than sex buddy.

Amen to that, M.O.B is always the motto i live by.

but i don't see it as a waste of money because i would have gotten the box set anyways. you just would have read about my complaint on using repainted figures for diffrent characters sooner.....

and CC you should never pay for the booty because you couldn't even get a dime for it at a pawn shop

dude, wha...are you serious!?! thats what WE all do...man, if you dont do that then youre wrong!..hahahahha just kidding. i know what you mean man...i dont go everywhere either, except here, banned sometimes, smalljoes.com, and of course ebay. but i know if i want something i will research it a bit like someone else said.

as far as wreckage, yeah i didnt know he was "actually" firefly til i got the pack in the mail from amazon.com. I didnt realize the accessories wre the same tho...thats pretty bad. But it doesnt bother me too bad i guess. Still doesnt hide the fact that yes, hasbro is lazy.

Actually now that I think about it, I think you are in a unique position. You get to make a decision I couldn't bring myself to do with the Wreckage figure. And that is do a little customizing. I like the figure as is, and the thing about Wreckage, or at least his head sculpt, is that he perfect for customizing.

I did it for Stalker, because I had to. He pants were damn ugly, and since I don't have any Stalker figures, I wanted to fix him badly. So I got this:

16835-_00-StalkerFix.JPG VS. 16835-_00-StalkerFix2.JPG

Wreckage's head should be pretty easy to work with. (Assuming you have more swivel head compatible bodies.)

:o you know that is a great idea! i think i'm gonna do just that and have a whole lot of fun doing it to, thanks man

BTW, your stalker does look a hell of alot better than the issued one. but you just gotta love that snarl though :)

I've seen the pictures of this mold before, but it's kinda worse in person. I think I'll forever perfer the "blank-stare-into-oblivion" look that's on most Joes. It's safer that way.

I'm completely the opposite on that opinion myself, as I tend to like the more expressional faces over the "zombie" looking ones, and this STALKER version is one of the best I think (Sammy Davis Jr. references and all! )

I have absolutely no trouble with Wreckage being Fireflys mold whatsoever. If people in real life can wear similar clothes yet be entirely DIFFERENT entities then this shouldnt even be considered an issue

but the same weapons right down to the lil' cellphone :-? i think that's just a little to lazy. if they are in fact diffrent people with diffrent specialties shouldn't they be given diffrent weapons?

Wreckage IS a demolitions guy, you know. And that model of gun IS used by more than one person in real life. Nort to mention they have to communicate SOMEHOW. If anything this is merely art imitating life. At least he HAS gear, which is more than can be said for the vehicle drivers

But the weapons are not the issue. You stated you couldnt accept a mold being used to make more than one character. And Ive pointed out that simply couldnt be farther from the truth. People CAN and DO wear similar clothes and they CAN BE and ARE different people. Thus Wreckage is no more Firefly than Sgt Hacker is. The only people who SHOULD have a problem telling Wreckage and Firefly apart are blind people.

I agree with Chazz, honestly. Character toys should never be reused as different characters, because to me I'll always see the old character. I see Wreckage and all I get from it is "So why did Firefly go crazy on his uniform?"

Frankensteining parts, I couldn't be happier. Alot of cool toys came of it, and more could still. But a straight recolor of an existing chara? Bah, don't insult me.
