2003 Convention exclusive figure set and Wave 6 confirmed!!!

Just found this little morsil over at www.stealbrigade.com.

The convention set sounds pretty cool. I wonder what figures will be included. Not that I would be able to afford it anyway.

And wave 6 sounds a little dissappointing. I was hoping roadblock would be packaged with a new Dreadnok, not a repaint.

Hey, it's MORE Joe toys no matter how you dissect it, for the good or bad. It's got some reissues or repaints (not certain of which) with it, along with a few newbies in the wave ( four I believe?) so no doubt it's somewhat more of a "filler" type wave until wave 7 gets here, which by all rumors floating about, would seem to be the next BIGGIN' 8)

No clue on the convention figures and what they'll be, but I missed out on the last one, so I may be sh@# out of luck on this one as well. (shrugs shoulders) :-?

i too was hopeing for a new one but i still can't find the first ripper! the only times i have seen it i was grabbing something else (stupid me)

Just noticed it said the smokescreen and skysweeper don't come with figs, so no ace as many have hoped.

No big loss. The only reason I would have bought those ugly gimmick laden amusement park rides was if a figure was with them, so Im glad theyre saving me some money. Be interesting to see what the colors for Wave 6 will be. Better get used to filler waves folks.

And Ill bet money that the criminally overpriced convention exclusives will also have INCREDIBLE paint details, then Hasbro will turn around and start slacking off on the domestic repaint's details. I wish they'd offer the convention sets at retail for reasonable prices.

Cant wait for the Tiger Force set. Shouldnt those have been out months ago?

I can't argue with that. I too suffered from a bit of sticker shock with the price of the last set, and theorized that a Terror Drome and possibly even the Aircraft carrier would be cheaper to reissue. No simple repaint is worth that kind of money asked at conventions like that.

Mmm, the convention exclusive would be nice(but how can you issue it in retail and it be an exclusive..doesn't work that way:P)

Hmm, Dreadnok is a repaint. I may have to look for someone wanting a Ripper figure or really start working on customs. Gehh, more vehicles without pilots. That's irritating.

So do you think the convention set will be JvC repaints, ARAH repaints, or brand new sculpts made just for this set? I am sure it will be ARAH repaints but wouldn't it be cool if they did JvC Torpedo, Tunnel Rat, and Recondo, repainted in "Night Force" type out-fits, VS. Firefly (painted in classic grey cammo) and Overkill (painted in all black and grey) with 10 Neovipers (colored in classic Cobra Navy blue). Now that would be a sweet set.

I like the way wave 6 looks! Minimal army building for me (Just one figure) some neat new figures (I'm DIEING to know what Roadblock, Blackout and Depth Charge look like...) and with luck, repaints better than the originals - Like someone said before me, do you recall Night Force? :)- It also wouldn't hurt Hasbro to try some frankensteining, like the old days...

I'd say it will be rah.

Yeah wave 6 is already starting to enter my thoughts (must think about nothing beyond wave 5,... pain in brain,...)

Frankensteining may even help so people would get more new chars in filler waves and also to replace those stupid neo arms.

It shouldn't be that big a surprise that Wave 6 is mostly repaints. Expect the 2003 line up to closely follow 2002's. In that there will be repaints, whether JvC or RAH (less and less of RAH in the regular Waves as time goes by), in most of the Waves.

With that said, no one should be surprised to see repaints show up in Waves 7-10. They look to follow 2002's Waves fairly closely, give or take a all-new sculpt here and there.

:-?

DART vs Dr. MINDBENDER

ROADBLOCK vs DREADNOK: RIPPER

FLINT vs BLACK OUT

BEACH HEAD vs SAND VIPER

SHIPWRECK vs OVER KILL

DEPTH CHARGE w/ Wave Cruiser

Note Hasbro, Inc has officially changed the Alpha Assortment Vehicle names:

BATTLE BLITZ (Mini-Tank) with BIG BEN

COBRA VENOM (Motorcycle) with Driver

Hey, I am ALL FOR repaints as long as they are good.

We got the bright green Stalker "fixed" because of repaints, and I'm actually interested to see what they will do with all of those characters.

Like maybe with Mindbender they'll paint a "shirt" on his bare chest a la the Wave 3 Zartan repaint, that way he won't look so goofy . . .

Hopefully they get into gear with Wave 7, though, or Hasbro stands to lose a lot of us with so many repaints.

I totally dig KamenDreda's convention idea!! Especially since I'm already dying for a Tunnel Rat repaint!!! Neon colors = NO!!!!!!!

Im still betting on a repaint pack of W4 Duke vs W3 Cobra Commander (In black) Theyve blown too much on both molds to not use them again

Same with the O-ring CLAWS and Neo-Viper. A "Battlesuit" CLAWS Commander head and helmet on a CLAWS body and an o-ringed NV Commander would seem logical.

Im wondering if some of the W6's will be packed with additional ghille ponchos to shoehorn them into the Spy format.

The back of the latest minicomic shows Duke wearing a NV uniform. Probably nothing more than just artistic liscense, but all they would have to do is pop a W4 Duke head on an o-ring NVs body and just make a new helmet.

ever since i heard about spy troops that is exactly what a wanted: a dukeas neo viper vs. neo viper both blue and o-ring. Oh the army buliding! wee-ha!

I too wouldn't be suprised to see those doc but hopefully we will also see more of the one man and mini vehicle packs, some with cobra troops!

how can yall be so sure these are going to be repaints? i think they are just going to slap the same figures back into the packs but with the litle spy troop clothes instead. which isnt totally bad, but i kinda wish they would give us cool new figs like lady jaye, tomax, xamot, etc. before recycling so many figures like Mindbender, dart, etc.

but o well, cant wait to see pics of wave 6 and the new convention dewey i wont be able to get!

The new Convention set? :o

Ok, if this will be anything like kast year's pricing the only way I'll buy it is if it contains the Cobra Soldiers, Vioers and a Hydrofoil. If not then it would be a waste of my $$$. If they make it cheaper, then I'll consider it.

The convention set will LIKELY be RAH molds. Not only that, it will LIKELY be molds that Hasbro as on hand, which would include past RAH molds that have been released in the last year or so, and Tiger Force 2, Python Patrol 2, BJ's 8-pack, Toyfare Exclusive (SE/Scarlett) and very unlikely BAT pack figures.

Repaints will never stop... almost every figture will get repaints released so the mold can pay for itself.

And it is a possibility that some of the repaints (DART, Dr. MINDBENDER, RIPPER, FLINT, BEACH HEAD, SHIPWRECK) will either get a ghillie suit, or spy troop armor. Or it's just like you said, same paint job with Spy Troops gimmicks (ghillie suit/armor). But since they have paint it anyway, it might as well be different, ya' know. So this time around, it won't be a total rip.

we seen a pic on the back of the muv that flint has a brown shirt so far that's all we know. I'm sure they will add spy stuff and if it is realy good it may make me get i couple but i already know i want to army build alot especialy if the sand vipers are good (PLEASE BE GOOD!), so i'm most likely skipping the totaly repainted packs (shipwreck vs. overkill and dart vs. mindbender.
